Buster is correct, there is a distinction between a statute that allows you to shoot dogs killing your livestock and whether you could get into hot water for discharging a firearm within city limits. You might consider a shotgun as someone suggested, so the danger of having a projectile going beyond your property is diminished. When we used to be allowed to hunt deer on the McAlester Amunition Depot, it was shotgun only, because of the danger of bullets from regular guns penetrating a bunker where amunition was stored. I totally understand how seeing the carnage caused by dogs can cause you to change any emotions you have toward stray dogs.
