I didnt make either show............been building a massive pig pen and chicken coop.rain or shine........windy and icy....ugh

My boyfriend and I just got back from the Harrah auction. It was busier than last week, but over within 2 hours. Not a whole lot of chickens again, but more buyers this time. Prices seemed a bit high this time, barred rock roosters went for $9 each. There were quite a few dozen hatching eggs there, some going as high as $7 a dozen for marans eggs. I wanted to buy some of the golden marans eggs, but they sold apparently when I wasn't watching. Oh, and there was a golden marans pair that sold for $9.50 each. Most eggs went for no more than $2 a dozen. I bought 8 buff silkie eggs for $1!!! Also, I sold a dog feeder & some other metal feeders & buckets, so I came home with $20 & some eggs! I call that a good trade! I hauled off some stuff I didn't need, brought home hatching eggs & some cash!

We're planning to go to the Cement auction next week. I think we'll try to sell a few of my 6 week old Jersey Giant pairs (blue rooster with black pullet), and the single jersey rooster chicks, and probably a couple of pairs of 3-4 month old Spitzhauben chickens. If anyone here is interested, I could hold them for you. Pre-auction sale $15 a pair.

Carla, I wish you hadn't told me that!!! I want them all! *ha* I really can't, though. I think you will do well at the auction. Just make sure that you tell them what they are when you register, the people running the auction are into show birds.

Okie, I will have to wait and consult with the fiance's family, its their roo. I'm not sure its pure, so you may not want it.

HEY HEY you all.....I have 4 growing chickies in the bator.....candled one last time just now........ 3 moving and one ???? so that is more than I expected........none of the shipped eggs made it though

'll let Critter share her experience from the Harrah auction when she is on here. Suffice to say never let a chickahatchaholic loose at a poultry auction. I can almost feel the bators warming up from here.

Grace, it sounds like you need to go ahead and order those eggs, but put my address on there for shipping.

I've got two bators and only 8 eggs, and none of them are mine!

My lone d'Uccle is so CUTE! Most feather-legged chicks have fuzz on their legs for a while, right? Well this little guy's a week and a half old and has feather SKIS coming off the sides of its feet!

Grace, my girls quit laying too. The first time they've quit since they started, and the weather's nice! I'm hoping for an egg or two tomorrow. I'd offer to save you some, but it looks like you're booked.

Doors open at 3:00 pm at the Cement auction, the auction starts at 5:00 pm. Its at the Cement Fairgrounds, near the railroad tracks on the north end of town (in case you haven't been before). What are you selling, other than eggs?
