Yeah, I know. I looked on their website a little while ago. They definitely have better protein & calcium levels in their feed. Also, I saw where their company delivers to neighboring states including Oklahoma. I guess maybe I should call them & see where the nearest dealer is. It might be worth driving a longer distance & buying more in bulk for quality feed.

Is the MFA feed pelleted, crumbles or just cracked grains with some sort of pellet stirred in?

We bought the "Egg Producer Crumble" and the Chick & Fryer Crumble. Here's the info on the egg producer crumble:

Thanks Chuck! I need to find the nearest store to central Oklahoma & go buy some! I'm so glad to hear there's at least one store selling it in Oklahoma, even if I have to drive to Eastern Oklahoma! The prices are so much better on MFA feeds than the vegetarian feed we're feeding. Most of the feeds we currently buy locally are priced anywhere from $9-13 for a 50 lb. bag.

I really do think the chickens need the meat protein to thrive. It's no wonder so many people are having problems with birds getting sick with the vegetarian diets they're forced to eat. I wouldn't doubt that their systems are weakened by the poor diet and then all kinds of illnesses can attack them.

I have some chicks now that think they're starving with the Nutrena brand feed that we buy locally. It's time to buy some more dog feed to add to the bird feed .... or better yet, go find some MFA feed with animal protein in it.

I am Ok just trying to wake up and get motovated, big day planned at work and the rain is going to screw things up some. Oh well, I don't do cold & wet very well LOL.

have a good day folks, the internet is being moody this morning, so am gonna go get stuff done, i guess the satelite is tired of snow too

Its raining down here in south Oklahoma too. Ive been seeing some robins so maybe spring aint too far away. The insides of my chicken coop is more suitable for pigs right now. The chickens are always ready for me to let them out so they can run around in the back yard. My sister over in the DC area got a bunch of snow so they are ready for warm weather for sure, I havent been able to get thru on the phone the last coupleof days.

So much for the whole global warming farse LOL, I think all future weather students should have a sabaticle in Oklahoma for a year before graduating, now thats a kick in the head LOL.

morning. okcarla wrote something about cheaper chick feed in missour. seeing how i work at home and sometimes have alot of free time on my hands......i could be persuaded to drive there and back for all of us. i havr access to a 52 ft goose neck trailer.....i know it is difficulct for people to get to the feed stores and work 10 hrs aday away from home, i know i have had to do it in the past. you know little help with gas money there and back to have delivered to each person. i can pick up alot......just an offer i thought i would shoot out there. i would have to have of course everyones address i would be delivering to. i some folks live up north east and a few in eastern then from what i have learn quite a few in metro ok and some southern birds too....see im learning.

another relly quick question......poops is there a registration fee to join....is it like camping all weekend or is it like a day thing? i am really wanting to go.

We started seeing robins this past week - when we still had snow on the ground in places. At first, I thought my eyes were deceiving me, but I have seen them several times so hopefully, the ole groundhog was wrong and it won't take us 6 more weeks to get to Spring. Of course, that doesn't preclude some cold wet weather in the meantime. It has been misting on and off for the past 14 hours and just started raining with intensity.

The radar map shows that many of those areas in SW Oklahoma that have been without power for 10 days are going to get snow and rain again today. I am going to pray for the safety of the linemen who have been working 18+ hour days trying to get power restored. They have got to be physically and mentally exhausted.

Al - take care today and stay as dry as you can. You are someone else who is undoubtedly exhausted after the past 10 days of bone aching cold and damp and electricity deprivation.

That might be a really good idea on the MFA feed if we can't find a dealer willing to start carrying it in Central Oklahoma. I am one who would be interested in assessing the cost of bringing some feed in.

As to POOPS, it is free of charge, everyone brings a dish or two for a potluck lunch and there is no fee for parking. We do sell raffle tickets and have an auction to help raise money to defray the cost of putting on the event. It is very family friendly and the kids have a blast playing with each other and trying to talk their parents/grandparents into buying them a chick/duckling/poult/quail etc.

Edited to add: Some folks camp or rent a cabin at the KOA for Friday night or Saturday night or both. Those of us who live close by go home and sleep in our own beds. The organized event begins Saturday morning and concludes Saturday evening. Those who are staying at the KOA of course get more time to visit with each other than those of us who don't stay overnight at the KOA.
