Have you candled the eggs? I'm curious to know how this hatch turns out.
These of course are the gorgeous dark assorted maran eggs that Carla sold at the Blanchard auction. There isn't any way I am going to be able to see any veining.
Carla - if you do decide to bring non-cuckoo maran eggs to the auction, put them in for the bidding and I will bid on them. You already gave me some wheaten marans and I ruined those by not changing the wafer in the thermostat and the temperature went to 120 - at least that was the highest temperature on the thermometer.
Time will tell how well they do and whether they hatch. I did set some Americauna eggs about a week after I set the maran eggs, so I think they will be alright now that they are turning.
I found runner duck eggs in a nest this evening, so I am going to put them in the incubator once they warm up to room temperature. I knew I should have fired up the sportsman instead of the Hovabator
It's not too late to fire up the sportsman
I'll bring what eggs we can collect. The last 2 days the egg production has dropped dramatically. I'm sure it's because of the yucky weather. I figure the hens are holding them in until closer to the weekend when the weather is better. That's good. I don't want them laying during freezing temp's. Gerald is collecting twice a day .... before work and after work, but the night collection he's saving as eating eggs only when it's below freezing.
