Just a hint:

If you will purchase one (or more) od those plastic figures in the form of an owl and place it in an area that is in open view near your chicken pen or coop, hawks will not come near the presence of an owl.

hmmm...so it really works??

who told you that

Probably Friday night, where you all staying?

I have thought about it but not sure if I will. If we did we would really have to rough it and I don't know that it wouldn't be easier to drive back & sleep in my own bed, what about you guys??

OK I got ya now, I cant read, I went to school in Missouri, I think I am going to stay in a Motel room, the DW and kids I think are going to sleep in the back of the truck lol. I just looked and Pryor is only about a hour or so away so I may save the money and stay home and come down that morning!!

I'm sitting at home, resting from class and knitting. My daughter "doesn't feel good", which means that dinner will be making a reappearance shortly. There's been a notice at her school that there's a stomach bug going around... I think she caught it.

Hi everyone!!!!! Finally have sat down long enough to catch up a little.

Here is some heads up for Blanchard this Saturday.

Starting at 2 o'clock we will be selling grocery items and health and beauty aids. These items are new and in original packages. Not for sure on exact items. Then following up with goats, sheep, calves (hope some come in. This part really needs to get some consignments) One thing for sure will be a 2 month old llama. Boy he is cute. Then as always at 5pm will start everyones favorite part the poultry.

Went to the swap meet last Saturday and saw some of you there.Wish the weather would stay nice. 2 pair of Lakenvelders, pair of yellow golden pheasants(under 1 yr),several rabbits, buff hens. This a few consignments that is to be there but weather may play part in them showing up.

Hope to see old and new faces .

Jerry

From what I've read, fake owls don't deter hawks. I just found this interesting thread about hawks here on BYC ... unfortunately, someone complained about falconry and the thread was closed. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=293762&p=5

I
have a family of owls living on my acreage and hear them every night & see them occasionally in the early morning or at dusk. We still have hawks flying around our coops. My suggestion is covering your pens with bird netting.

I wish i was kidding...but it is the sad sad truth. Our math teacher gets to go to the city and only has to go for a week...aparently they keep all the numbers the same. I am trying to figure a way to work it out so i get stuck there until Sat and then get lost and go to an auction! They run Mon-Thurs...I think i will accidentally get held back for tutoring an extra couple days. Sometimes we get cool stuff...other teachers have gotten lap tops and toys...I got a GPS and snake stick at one!

I don't know if it works or not for hawks, DH used it to keep birds out of his barn & I use it to keep chickens off the porch.......darn chickens are smart, if I don't move it around then they get use to it.

I figure we will drive home too just cause my bed is better than any hotel. It will only take me 45 mins or so to get home.
