Hi June. My day has gone pretty well, I am gathering so many more eggs that I was able to just a week or two ago. I was only getting an egg or two a day, and now I am getting 6-8 a day! Which means I probably ought to go clean out the big incubator this evening!
Are your hatches going well?
I tried to repost your photo, but I couldn't figure it out

I can post photos from my account, but for some reason I don't know how to post them from someone elses. On your BYC photo page, below your picture there will be a box that says "Image:". If you copy and paste everything from that box it should show up as a picture...

That's where I copied from, but I didn't copy and paste...I just typed it out. Maybe that is where I made my mistake. Will try again another time. Someday I will get it right.

I (sadly?) am going more formal with this birthday since I am turning 18!!! But half of me is wanting to just go for a farm and poultry decor!

But as long as I go fancy..... I won't actually be able to use an adorable cake like that
sad.png

That being said, you should make a cake for our POOPS! We could even auction it so you would get some reimbursement!

I suppose you could have missed a letter that way? Because it did look fairly correct to me!
As long as you are using a PC, it isn't very hard to copy and paste. If you are using a Mac, I believe it is different (but I think the only difference is using a Command key instead of a Ctrl key)
hmm.png

If you just click and hold your mouse at the first of it, then drag it until it scrolls to the end and turns all the text blue, that will "select" it. Next hold down the Ctrl key and press the C key, that will "copy" it. Then start a new post over here, hold down the Ctrl key again and press the V key, that will "paste" it

my cubans are large fowl. Working on them in bantam though.

That's too bad
sad.png

I thought you had Bantam Cubalays too.
So are you showing some of your other bantams, or just going to visit/look/shop?
smile.png

Visit & shop. Didn't get my entries sent off in time. Were your's accepted? I have bantam cubalaya but they aren't ready yet.

You can have fun without showing, but that's too bad that you weren't able to show.
..... Well they didn't tell me they were not accepted?? So I guess they were accepted!
Maybe by the next Pryor show you can enter your Cubalays!

I was born in Beloit and 99% of my family(momma side) hailed from Barnard KS.. just as they become adults they ventured out...

Beloit where, because I am from a small town outside of Beloit Wisconsin. That is the only Beloit that I have ever heard of before, but not saying there aren't others.

Beloit Kansas

This was a bit too expensive for me, and if not too expensive, it may be too far for most of you, but I thought I'd pass it along anyway.

Organic Feed In Southeast Dallas Area - Finally!

Hey y'all, just wanted to let you know that Green Acres is finally getting in Coyote Creek and Nature's Best (also an organic feed, but in pellet form). biggrin I've asked both Coyote Creek and Matt to let us know when they get the soy-free formula, but for now, this is USDA certified organic and they do check the corn and soy for GMO. (I suggested they just mash up a bunch of grasshoppers for protein, no?)

Matt - the owner of the feed store down here - says he'll carry it for us, as long as we keep coming to get it. So if you live out this way, Mesquite, Pleasant Grove, Oak Cliff area, South Dallas, Duncanville, etc., and beyond, tell your chicken buddies! It sure is a lot closer for us south of I-30 who want organic feed for our egg layers and chicks. Here are the prices he's got on it as of now;

50lb bags....of certified organic feed. (and yes, I do think it is important to feed non-gmo corn/soy. (here's why )

Coyote Creek
Layer - $35.99
Starter - $38.99
Nature's Best
Layer Pellets (shipped in from PA) - $39.99

Green Acres is a nice, clean full service feed store right off of highway I20 and the Seagoville Rd. exit, just past the 635 split. (you can see them to your right from the exit ramp) The guys are very helpful in there and it is really only about 20 mins or less from downtown Dallas. I take 175 to 20 usually when I'm coming home from the city. (rather than 30/80 to 635) There isn't usually much traffic at all. Just take the I20/635 exit and stay on I20 to the first exit, Seagoville Rd - take a right and you're there!

He also carries other chicken accessories like watering dispensers, feeders, etc. If you going to need starter, let him know you're expecting some new chicks and he'll be sure to get more in. The number one feed is the layer of course and he wants to keep it all fresh so he'll carry the most popular movers, but can get the broiler feed, too.

He's not all organic in there now so be sure to ask before you buy any "remedies", but he's talking about getting in things like DE (good for dusting for mites) and a few other things. (I'm working on him....been talking to him about organics for years.)

Green Acres is open Mon - Sat. Their info is;
Green Acres Feed & Tack
13400 Seagoville Road, Dallas, TX 75253-3015
(972) 557-0342‎

Come see us at Eden's on 1st and 3rd Saturdays Market Day when you pick up your feed!
