Ok I know I have become a lurker lately but has anyone ever used a brower incubator? I went to get a genesis and was talked into the brower. Now I need some chickens to start laying better so I can see it work any thoughts?

I have never used one but I bet you can do a serch & find something. I have read about them in the incubation thread.

How have you been?

We have been doing well here, how about you? Is it just our chickens or are you all seeing a slow increase in egg production this year. Our RIR are producing well but that is all.

My friend who started me in poultry some years ago, bought a Brower maybe three years ago because he had eggs to set and no broody hens. He used it once with a decent hatch. He didn't like the noise, had a hard time taking it apart to clean, and much prefers to hatch them naturally, so he gave it to me. I used it for two or three hatches that were OK. I liked the way it turns the eggs more naturally and really liked the fact that you could wash it in the dishwasher, but also had a hard time taking it apart. If you're not extremely careful, you lose some of the tiny, tiny ball bearings that make it able to turn. Even one missing messes it up. However, they can be ordered. If you keep this one, I have most of a set of the tiny bearings I'd be happy for you to have. I also found that using it only a few times worked a groove into the bottom of the tub, which made it turn less efficiently. That is mentioned in the instructions also. I ended up giving it away and buying a Genesis, which I really, really like.

They may have updated them since this one came out.

I normally would prefer light blue over lime green, which isn't my favorite color in clothing, but I think it will really make our shirts stand out, which is one of the major reasons for having them--so we can find each other. Carah, please add the lime green to my t-shirt order; still only one shirt.

Just remember that I have avatar ADD, if I screw up I don't want to hear about it.

I will do my best & think that I have a full proof plan!

Just order both Jeannie, you will spill paint on one anyways.

The incubator came with two metal pieces that you place on the bottom of the tray to keep the groove from occurring. It said these pieces were optional. I put them on it though. I intended to buy a genesis, but the lady talked me into this one because it is all plastic, no styrofoam, dishwasher safe, the whole top is a window and it is made in the USA. I'm thinking I will give this a whirl and if all else, I will order the genesis as I had planned to do in the first place. Now to coax some of my chickens to lay some eggs, or all I will get to set are Ameracaunas and EE eggs. I really wish my BR and my OEGB's would hurry up and lay something though. Betsy, thank you so much for the imput. I will make sure and be very careful of the bearings too!
