Good evening Okies
Was looking for some door latches for pens and came across a sack that had new incubator thermometers and new temperature wafers. I have had the wafers so long they were priced at $6.99 from Lumber 2 and the one I bought this Spring from there was $9.99. I am delighted to find the wafers, but am annoyed with myself that I put off replacing the wafers in the Sportsman because I was only able to buy one this Spring at Lumber 2 and kept forgetting to see if they had restocked. (I need a Smilie that smacks me in the head instead of someone else.)

that is a lot of birds to process and still think there there will be time to do other things in the same day! We will be awaiting a report.

Thats what I was thinking P&b! butchering a hundred would be an all day job for me!
Guess everyone is gone places tonight. How are your bees doing? We have a 20 acre field of clover in bloom next door to us and I was hoping someone in the area has some bees to work it!

My bees are doing well, thank you. I added additional frames of foundation to them this morning, in hopes of them making some honey and/or the queen having enough room to lay eggs that the hives won't feel the need to make a new queen and divide the colony.

I was asked to provide some comb honey for church camp - I guess for the campers to look at since there is a "bug" theme this year, so I had the opportunity to pull out a frame of capped honey and cut sections out and place it into square plastic boxes. That is what I have wanted to do since I started beekeeping in 2006. It was way cool.

My fruit trees are laden with fruit, because of the bees. With regard to clover, if there are managed bees within a 2 mile radius of you and there isn't anything flowering that they find more desirable than clover (and they do love clover) then any bees within 2 miles are likely in your neighbor's pasture and some lucky beekeeper is going to have very light colored "clover honey."

Michael,

I sent you a PM. Yes, I'm fussing about having to spend so much on the hardware cloth, but my goal is to make it snake proof and that is the only way I know to do it. I will be very disappointed if it doesn't work. The hardware cloth is the only thing I had to buy new. Everything else is from my past. I bought it all at one time or another, but over the years and for other projects...recycling, and spreading the cost out over the years helps take the pain away.

Junebug,

You called it recycling. I do the same thing but my wife calls me a cheap-scape and a pack-rat.
