Welcome to the Okie's thread. I'm East of Kingfisher. Just jump right in and start posting.

Sometimes this thread moves pretty fast but don't let it bother you. What kind of birds do you have?

Did you know that if you abreviate California on a log book that is a $250.00 fine for every time you do it.

Your worthless fact for today.

Wow! Those could be considered fighting words.

I have a dual boot system, but I rarely use Windows for the very reasons mentioned here. Every wannabe hacker on line wants to write nasty code for it. I use Fedora Linux and don't have nearly the headaches that I do with anything Microsoft. But don't think that because you use Linux you're safe from the aforementioned idiots. It's just that, being "open source", there's no challenge in writing viral script for Linux, and the open code makes it a lot easier to fix. Microsoft, in trying to protect their proprietary code, make it much harder for the average user to recover their systems. That, of course, is what keeps people like "Geek Squad" in business.

Having said all that, I have to admit that I got a bug i can't seem to fix. It's wiped out my windows drive to the point that I think it will be more economical to replace the drive than spend another day working on it. Thank GOD that I'm so quick to back everything up. I shouldn't lose too much of my stuff. And chickens.

Morning Okies!

Mornin' Stimp.

I remember when someone told me a few years ago that it was "impossible" to crash Red Hat because "It's LINUX!".

Then I mention that my unsupervised 4 year old crashed her daddy's Linux box in about.. 5 minutes or less. Even though he's an MCDBA (microsoft certified database architect), he runs Linux on his most used home computer.

I started out on the old Unix machines and I still prefer command line interface altho I can be found using GUI's more and more these days. I may just be getting lazy.

Besides, I prefer free software over having to pay for it.

And there is no such thing as a machine that can't be crashed. What's the old adage ... "every time we make something idiot proof, someone comes up with a better idiot".
