Good morning! Since today is a State holiday are you doing projects around the house or are you on an "official" job site?

I had planned to head to a new job site today but can't get down to the shop to get tools & equipment loaded, it's just way too wet and soggy and my 4X4 is on the fritze in my work truck. Plus Laura's chest cold is getting worst so I may have to take her in to the doctor today if she wakes up and still feels bad, Plus with her out of commision I may have to shuttle Alyssa to something or another.

Al do you have the manual lock-out hubs? If you have the automatics I would get them changed over asap. Sometimes on the electronic shift, things in the transfer case gets gummed up and the magnet wont pull the piece into place to engage the 4x4.

To change out the locks it is simple to do and about the only special tool you need is a pair of snap ring pliers if I remember right. Our local O'Reilley's keeps a set of the manuals in stock and I think they are around $70 last I checked.

Sounds like Laura is the priority today. Hope she is feeling better when she awakens or that the doctor is able to give her something to make her feel better

Late morning folks!

I hate waking up more tired and hurting then I did before bed. I just can not get motivated this morning. Plus I have a headache so bad it is making me nauseous. Last night was a fun but I think I am paying for it this morning.

Uli only had 2 1/2 hours of sleep last night so he is planning on a nap when he gets home and I think I may have to join him. Of course I need to contact a guy on craigslist about some peachicks.

Go back to work tomorrow. Don't want ta but it is only 4 hours a day, 3 days a week so I really do not have much to complain about. Plus I love the kids they are so sweet and wonderful.

Well I did start a load of dishes and probably need to start a load of clothes better get that done so my morning will not have been a total waste.

Have a great day everyone!

Rebecca

Did some chores still have a few more things to get done but Uli is home and a nap is the next order of business.

Spent several hours modifying rabbit cages so that baby chicks couldn't escape through the 2 x 4 inch wire. Added 10 inch high strips of 1 inch hardware cloth all around the bottom. Should have gone higher than 10 inches, since the straw in the bottom of the cage elevates the little fluffy bottoms just enough that they can almost get above the hardware cloth to get out.

Tried out the small bull/C rings and pliers that I bought several months ago from a rabbit supply vendor at the rabbit show - those C rings are much easier to use than J clips when retrofitting older cages that are not always square with the world.

Think I will throw some cages into the van - just in case

- and head to the Lexington auction. I hope to see some of you there.

Ok now I know you are all trying to get me over run with birds. Posting about ads for peafowl and mottled cochins that is just not right. Huh, Uli's kids live in Stillwater, maybe it is time for a visit. Hehehehe

I now know how to find the Lexington auction.

There were not many people and not much to bid on. Nevertheless, I came home with 5 dozen hatching eggs @ $1 per dozen and 30 chicks of ??? large fowl breed for 55 cents each. Now, to figure out where to put the new chicks until I can figure out what they are.

We had a nice visit with the auctioneer and since it wasn't all poultry, I suspect we will go back again.

Ok, I guess I'm clueless when it comes to chicken psychology. I open the "fence" that separated the chicken coop from the chicken run, and they took a look outside and just meandered along the doorway.

Today I find about 6 or so birds out in the chicken pasture and the rest in the coop (around noon). I had to run the rest out with a broom, and rake to clean out the chicken coop. Is this normal, or do I have agoraphobic chickens?

Aside from that they're pretty darned cute running around scratching up the ground by the oak trees.

It was also neat how they all gathered up at dusk and went inside. I had never seen that behavior in any other animal before.

Slow day on the board. I have had a great weekend. I did spend Friday working helping a friend, she doesn't know the pay back will be much worse when we break ground & start building. LOL. Sat we went to see family in Bartlesville & I ate way too much. Sunday we had friends over to celebrate the 4th & that was alot of fun. Today I spent some time with my mom & grandma then to my friends to lay in the pool & back here to eat again. Tomorrow is back to work!!
