Good news! You don't use a pressure cooker for pickles, jelly or tomatoes. Those are canned using the water bath method. Get a Ball Blue canning book and all the answers will be at your fingertips. Didn't we discuss the topic of a canning class last summer?

I don't have a pressure cooker, so can only do things that I can do in a boiling pot of water. Thanks for the note about the Ball Blue canning book. We may indeed have talked about canning this time last year, but I've forgotten!

Hey ya'll can open a CANNING SALON.

Long ago I worked at a Ball Glass plant for three years. We made just about every kind of canning jars imaginable plus all kinds of other jars for Kraft and baby food jars for Gerber.

Mom used a lot of different jars and not just the canning jars. Before using them she would do a boiling bath for an extended period to see if they would stand up. Every once in a while she would have one fail but not often. And I swear she could see an air bubble in the glass from 50 feet.

I have the three crocks that was used for pickles and such, don't know just how many pounds of food that was made in those crocks but I bet it was a lot. The biggest one is at least 100 years old as mom got it from her grandmother.

Congrats all on the weight loss. I think "God Watchers" is about what I'm needing right now.

I bookmarked the page so I can go back this weekend to vote Grace after our fair is over.

We've only canned green beans, pickles and tomato stuff so far this year. I recently found the greatest canning tool ever. My eldest has been going solo. Hope it doesn't break before the season's out.

Our place is a disaster in progress. The "just cosmetic" quickly became structural. I just pretend we don't live in a construction zone and spend more time with the birds.

Have to get to bed to be back at the fair bright and early. Taking tons of pics and I'm going to need advice before we head down there in December as here's more confusion then anything. One of the porcelain booted bantams I got from Michael D at POOPs that I grudgingly let DD take got RV CH. Yep, with all it's probs in unconditioned glory.

It's a mad world we live in I tell ya.

Thanks to Les, I was able to help a kid out who missed the regular tester without making a complete mess of things. So there's something.

Gooooooood Morning Okies!!!

Donna sorry that I missed your call the first time, I didn't even see it till this morning, glad you called on the house phone because the cell doesn't get very good service when it is raining & over cast. I'm glad you posted to let everyone know how you are doing.

I need to go back to look at Greybears eating guide. I have decided to loose that same 15 that I put on & take off yearly! Good luck to all of you that start loosing.

Les that is really cool that you have a crock that is a 100 years old. I love old stuff!

I am excited that we are getting closer to actually breaking ground & can't wait to walk in my home for the first time!! I also plan to do pictures all the way through.

Everyone have a greart day!

I have decied that every morning I will decide to have a great day & that is what I have!

Ventilation is probably the key to keeping condensation from accumulating in the winter when a coop is insulated.

My bee hives are propped open at the top and have a screened bottom board, even in the winter, since condensation inside the bee hive will dampen the bees and chill them more quickly than just the cold air temperature. I suspect the same principal applies to other creatures.

Good Morning Everyone!
