Well I am going to try to post some pictures of my project for yesterday. (it was really nice yesterday, under the shade tree)

Grace has so many chicks (all beautiful) that I thought I would give her a little more room. This is the A Frame style I have switched to for the time being. This one it 8' long 4' wide at the ground and 42" high. I put doors on both ends for easy access. I also added a couple of roosts to this one.

Years ago Jason was given a tar trailer.... ya know the kind that construction users use to lay down the hot tar... All we had to do was get the tar thing off of it and the rest of it was ours... After using 3 trucks to get the TAR bucket off(there was solid tar) wenched off the frame... Jason took it home and built him self a nice heavy duty trailer that we still have to this day.....

Jason is pretty smart and can weld... He has been doing his research using 5th wheel trailers and so we shall see what he can make out of this one...

Hey Jeannie, we need to figure out a time for you to come get these drakes. They are yours if you come and get them. I wouldn't mind having that trailer, just as it is.

I was finally able to get rid of all my baby birds today. There were almost 40 of them. The same lady that bought a few two weeks ago, came back wanting more. She took every chick I had. Well every one except my Serama chicks. I ended up giving my POOPS centerpiece babies to Roy. They just didn't fit in my breeding plan and were perfect for his. He also took a few Frizzled Cochin/Serama eggs to hatch. I'm not sure if they are fertile or not, but I figured it was worth a shot.

Not a single one of my big birds are laying. All of them have stopped since the move. My ducks have even stopped laying. I thought that maybe they were just hiding a nest out in the bushes in the pen, but when I looked today, I didn't find any eggs.

Have you seen the chicken cages made with the outside of a window a/c unit? Someone makes them and brings them to the Blanchard auction and they seem to sell well. Depending on the material used for the floor and door, I would think they are pretty predator proof.

Thanks P&B, I do drink lots of water and Gatorade, I just overdid it day before yesterday and I know better, was just trying to get stuff done!!! You how hard headed men can be!!! LOL Also I have seen cages made from AC units and have considered making some, may just have to start doing that for a little extra cash!!! Thanks, Lynn

On another topic, I moved some birds around to free up the rabbit hutch where I quarantine birds, for a temporary home for the gorgeous blue nn roos that Monty brought me this afternoon. As I was removing the turkey poults that were the current residents of the quarantine area, I noticed a wasp nest up under the roof of the hutch. I will be getting another can of wasp spray this evening. Those insects are not allowed to take up residence where people can come within 20 feet of them at my house.

This is the time of year when wasps are building homes and raising new wasps. Everyone needs to be observant of rafters - including those inside the chicken coop - so that wasps don't build a home and then decide you are invading their space when you care for your poultry.

Just finished brousing the website of Eggcartons.com, since today is the last day for their free shipping special (type in the word "freedom" when it asks if you have a discount code) I am going to order a "foul catcher" and see if I can catch my birds more easily than I do with a net.

While brousing, I came across a product that is supposed to preserve fresh eggs up to a year without refrigeration. Since the product description indicates the technology has been around since the Great Depression when refrigeration was not widely available, I suspect it is a "recipe" that uses ingredients that were common at that time. Any ideas on what might be used to preserve fresh eggs for up to a year without refrigeration? It says it "seals the pores" on the eggs.

P&B!!!! Mix up some good soapy water using dish soap and warm water and either put it in a spray bottle or in a can or something to throw it on them nest and all about dark, the soapy water will kill them as good as the wasp spray!!! But I keep some of that wasp spay around to, I like the long range spray it has!!! Lynn
