Morning Doc! Glad it has been quite for you! So glad you get to drop by to visit with us.

P&B after waking up this morning I think you might be onto something with that Sleep thing.......I do need more sleep. LOL.

Have a great day everyone!

My poultry experience started somewhere around 15 years ago with Guineas. Our daughter got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite. We consider them "working" animals as well as more or less pets. We had a HUGE tick problem before guineas, now tick bites are rare.

Once you get used to the guinea sounds, it's really kinda reassuring--you always know when something out of the ordinary (sometimes just a falling leaf) is going on. Of course they do get loud, but they don't crow at all hours of the day and night like the chickens do!

My small flock consists of pretty colors of guineas, and I so enjoy that.

Good Morning,

Weather say might be another scorcher today

Hopefully we wont lose any chickens today as our flock is begining to dwindle...

Oh - what a great mother you have! My parents are the same way - they say they're retired but they seem to work harder than ever. (I love Taos!)

Awww.....I'm sorry Jeannie - she was a pretty one.

I have capitulated my "tough it out, birds" attitude and have a garden hose hanging through the chain link of a sometimes shady part of the chicken run - misting a little water out all day. When I first turned it on the girls were highly offended that I would try to get them wet, but later when I went out to check on them they were standing right under it.

When I read about the car repairs, I had visions of Kronk wearing the car around his waist like Fred Flintstone. Have a great day, Monty!

Sooner - Mom's busier now than when she was teaching. I hope I can be as active as she is. We (teachers) go back for training Monday of next week. Wednesday is the first day of school for students. I am still at HD. I'm grateful to have a job. Tulsa Public RIFFed a lot of teachers. Union did too. Our oldest daughter's husband's mom has a PHD and got her pink slip last May. I don't think she's found a new position yet. First years have it the worst. I think many of our best educators will move to Texas. It's our loss. I hate to see our young people lose the best teachers.

When my mom retired from teaching in California, she was making over 65K a year. That was 10 year ago. I'm embarrassed to say the in Oklahoma there's no way, even if I had multiple degrees and taught longer than she did, that I'd ever be able to make as much my last year in the classroom.

So HD stuck with the 11th for the first day. I was hoping you would have a few extra days to play like we do. Your mom sounds like an awsome person! I have to say that you teacher will never get the anount that is deserved for the job that you do. I hate that we continue to loose out on the education dept!
