Left the Blanchard auction earlier than I normally do - but I didn't get everything fed and watered before I left this afternoon and didn't want to be up half the night getting that done.
It was great to see a bunch of BYC folks and visit with several that I hadn't met before. Enjoyed talking to Elwood Lightfoot a/k/a "Bill" and met an Okie who hasn't yet made it to our thread - but used to be a beekeeper so knows some folks that I know from the beekeeping side of my life
Everyone was surprised when Dean actually bid on something but he loves pickled eggs and after buying a pint jar of hot and spicy pickled quail eggs, talked the seller into going to his house and bringing back more to sell to Dean. He was eating those carrots and peppers with his eyes watering and trying to convince me that they weren't too hot for me to eat. I tried a quail egg and it wasn't too hot (actually tasted pretty good) until it sat in my mouth for a minute and then the heat hit my taste buds. Whew!
Peaches, your SFs seem like very nice young men and Jaxon enjoyed playing outside with them. It was good to see you and Montana.
Sooner, it was great to see you and I appreciated your daughter's assistance in helping Jaxon get over his "mad" because we told him he could NOT have a kitten or a puppy. Sometimes "free ain't cheap enough" to quote TJ's NaNa.
Al, thank you for buying me some more nachos after I decided to wear the first serving of them. I felt like a little kid who had dropped their ice cream in the dirt until you brought me some napkins so that I could get the cheese off my chair, shirt and the floor. I didn't dare move because I would have been wearing more cheese if I had moved wrong in the chair.
Matt, thank you for getting my Flemish Giant transport cages made for me. I will appreciate the ability to use them for the Duncan rabbit show that will be Labor Day weekend. The vendor that I will order the trays from will bring them to the show without shipping charges, so that will work out very well.
Michael - thank you for the cherry tomatoes. They are a favorite snack for me.
Monty, it was good to see you and Jared. We will write on the calendar today's date as the only time I have left an auction before you. Did you get those NN hens?
Carla and Gerald, thank you for bringing me the peachicks. Dean likes them also and suggested I put them in a more secure area than the barn, so nothing can get them through the wire cage.
Muesky, I will get FunChick's pullet to her this week. I can't believe you didn't buy those two peachicks that went through the auction!
MMPoultry, it was nice to see you and meet your other daughter. It looked like you had a good time this evening and that you now have all the auction etiquette and procedures down to a "T" I hope you are able to find it in your heart to forgive us for leading you into "auction addiction"

Did we ever figure out who paid $20 for Sooner's Welsummer roo?
June, it was nice to visit with you - and since you left early before any cages came through, I got a good buy on a bird cage in which I can house some young pheasant chicks.
OldMotherHen - sorry you couldn't be there tonight, but it was fun to see your dad walking around the cages of birds with your "shopping list."
MJ - it was nice to put a face with your screen name and visit with you.
YonderOak - your advertising description for the kittens that come from a 25 year old line of "mousers" was excellent. They were cute as a bugs ear and I was secretly hoping that Dean would give in to Jaxon and that one would go home with us. Unfortunately, Dean isn't certain how many cats we have now and those that we do have tend to walk on his truck and leave paw prints on his windshield, thereby making it difficult to convince him that we could use a talented cat.
I apologize for anyone I missed mentioning. We had a good time and congratulate the Blanchard auction on their 2 year anniversary.
