We were cleaning the baby quail cage you want to talk about fast. Before we could catch it, the poor thing ran in with the RIR they had it killed and pulled apart before we could get to it. So Im down to 31 quail.

Hiya All, I remember my grandmother telling about using sulpher to get rid of mites in the coops and off the chickens, Anyone know about using it for bird mites? I don't think I have any just wondering in case I ever do..

This rain is nice but the power keeps going off and on I just hope it dont go off and stay like it has done in the past out here. Well then i wont have to worry what im going to do with all these guineas hatching. lol I hope not.

Hello all. It has been a really slow day around here today. I have been working all day.

I have a couple of questions. If you had to pick one hatchery, which one would be it be? I'm looking for best quality for the price. I am also considering suggestions on a good laying breed.

I have been given the go ahead on restructuring my flock. Andrew and I have agreed to sell the RIR and BSL chickens that we have. (If anyone is interested, let me know.) He picked these breed out and I am not happy with them. He is letting me get rid of them and order chicks of my choice. I have decided to order only pullets.

I will get my hatching fix from the Seramas, which I now have 5 girls and 2 boys. My babies are old enough to clearly tell the difference. I have managed to hatch out some really pretty colors this time and am really excited about breeding them when they get older. They are currently only 3 months old, but look sooo pretty. The mama has finally started laying again.

Caught a spider web square in the face this morning when I went out to feed (holding my flashlight too low, I guess). Anyway, I took my camera out today after work to see if I could find the web again. It was there, completely rebuilt, and the crafty spider responsible was sitting right in the middle of it. Can anyone tell me what kind of spider this is? I've never seen one like it. He's about the size of a tarantula (I know this because a student brought a tarantula into the lunch room today. According to the student it was okay, though, since the spider was in a glass jar... I think I ruined the student's day by reaching for the jar and asking if I could take him out and hold him. I had no intention of holding the spider, in or out of the jar, but I could see that a coworker was experiencing some distress, and I wanted the spider gone as quickly as possible. Teenage boys don't always appreciate the fine line between funny and terrifying. Teach? Any other arachnid fans out there? Do I need to be concerned about this kind of spider?

Michael Daugherty sent me a text - his internet isn't working well - I told him I would post his good news.
Macy entered 5 birds in a local show that had about 100 birds. She 5 first places and best male over all of the show with a RIR and best male feather leg bird with a cochin rooster. She got a reserve champion with a female barred rock hen. She received bantam grand champion with a cornish rooster and best of class EE with a bantam male. Macy also entered two rabbits and got a 3rd and a 4th place.
