Jim : I am really glad to see you are getting on those Turttles, I know you have been wanting to for awhile now, glad it's working out.

Thanks, Al. When I saw that trap at the auction I knew it was for me. Checked the price listings on it ($250 new or thereabouts) and decided to go up to half that. Fortunately I didn't get anywhere near it, but I was ready to. Those other bidders didn't know, if they wanted that trap, they were going to have to pay for it.

PnB, I don't know what people buy them for, but will ask Mike once I get close to getting that license. There is apparently a place (in Shawnee?) to take them to, what happens to them after that isn't my concern.

Ended up with 18 in my first batch. Fortunately none of them was an endangered or protected species.

Most of them are sold to foregin markets.
I used to know a guy who was well educated and had a high profile white collar job.
I never saw him when he wasn't wearing an expensive suit.
However, he and his brother trapped turtles each summer and used the money they made to go on guided hunting trips to Africa, Alaska and other places.
Needless to say I think he did pretty well selling turtles.

Buster, I hope you make enough money selling turtles that you can enlarge your flock of feed eating birds - next year when you finish your responsibilities as an officer for your union.

(somehow, I don't see you as the type to take expensive hunting trips for the purpose of bringing home exotic trophy animals for the taxidermist to stuff.)

We are less than 225 posts away from 70,000. We have a long weekend coming up - I bet we can behave ourselves, talk about our poultry, and make it to 70,000 posts before the holiday weekend is finished.

I will add my two cents to the page and help boost our Okies Thread

Today was the kids second day in public school.. It was decided that I take this semester or year(we are on one semester at a time) off from Homeschooling so that I can focus on my health and stress levels and help work on the projects needing to be done instead of waiting for the weekend and hoping to have one good day to work on the place. The kids are doing well thus far and the Elgin schools are so far really supportive of our stance with home schooling or other means of education which makes it nice.

Kids do miss being home and being with their animals but I am sure as the days move along they will adjust just fine. So pretty much its so quiet at my house that I can litterally hear my cells splitting....lol especially when the baby is sleeping and I dont have the other kiddo until noon (preschool)... its weird I tell you and I think now I really hear the voices in my head .... HA HA HA.

Anyhow we lost all our guineas from the storm after it blew our run door open again

missing, gone, and never coming back

we had hoped they would show up but with it being a full 2 days since they went MIA we have lil hope of their return...

So how is everyone else... any word on the stimp meister ?

Sky is very dark and ominous over Choctaw. My DH is a weather nut. He says we might get hail, but pea-sized.

It is ok if it ruins my garden now - My tomato plants have recovered and look great except there are almost no blossoms. Gadrening is hard in Oklahoma! I want to turn the vegetable garden into a checken pen.

we may need to do an Okie roll call after this storm blows through and everyone has a chance to assess wind damage

Jeannie - congratulations on finding a way to have some time to yourself each day, even though it was undoubtedly a difficult decision to put the kids into public school after they have been home schooled the past ???? years. They will have a great time and make new friends quickly. Sorry about your guineas. How old were they?

Unfotrtunatly the wind, thunder and lightening hasn't affected our soils moisture content.
It seems the NewsChannel four storm of the century decided to stay in town and spare us country folks.
Thanks Mike Morgan for the three or four inches of rain you promised.

Sorry for the rant but I am tired of missing out on all of the rain!
