I know of just one ceiling like that left possibly in the entire county. When Turner's Cafe out at Loyal did a re-model years ago. they didn't disturb either the ceiling or the big 8' ceiling fans. But there was a suspended ceiling put in when the A/C units were installed.

And light tin/steel was worth nothing either so most of that stuff was hauled to the Cimmarron river and dumped over the bank. I've cut up old trim and molding for firewood and we have even used old cars like 30s models for target practice. If we had known that they were going to be worth something someday they would have been saved.

My Labor day -
I got some 1/2 in. hardware cloth , made a cardboard template, and cut come "covers" for the ends of my two pens. The first night after I put them out, one of my new Partridge Banty cochins flew out one end under the tarp roof. She must have started from the top of the coop as the top of the pannels are 7 feet up.
I had been planning to do the project because I was worried that a hawk or owl would fly in not a chicken fly out. These three pullets, from okracefan at the last Blanchard auction, are sure active little girls. I got them so cheap I feel like I stole them and that I own him more.
The little cockerels that are going to be their mates are changing fast, getting such pretty colors. The first pic is one guy a month ago and the second was taken today.
Trying to get chickens to sit still for photos is like trying to pick up jello with a fork.

Thanks, and glad you ordered the book on small scale self sufficiency. I think you will like it. That rain barrel idea sounds like a good one.

Those suggestions are right on track too.

Look for any debris in the eye especially in the front corner where it opens up to the sinus cavity.

Are there any bubbles in the front corner of the eye? Bubbles are a sure sign of a resp. illness and will often show up before the other symptoms like labored breathing.

In the livestock section of your feed store pick up some terrimycin eye ointment and use as directed. Same thing, basically, that is used for humans.

Thanks, I will have a closer look tomorrow and pick up some ointment I should be able to get it at TSC or a local pharmacy that carries vet supplies

Update on Stimpy and Lou - went by and visited with Lou and Stimp at the Rehab center. Stimp was sitting on the side of the bed doing leg exercises and in great spirits. He is able to walk short distances and sit up without getting dizzy. He is now able to lift and exercise his right arm, without assistance from his left arm. He is doing sooooooo much better than he was even 10 days ago. Lou wants everyone to know that Stimp's improved health is a direct result of prayer, since the doctors told her 3 times while he was in SICU that she needed to call in the family, because there was a good chance he wasn't going to make it.

Stimp's goal now is to be able to walk far enough without assistance that he can go home. He is working hard with the physical therapy to make that happen.

Stimp said to tell everyone "hey" - he is still a man of few words regarding himself

I offered to bring him some grits, but he declined the offer.

I am so glad he is doing well and I know Jason and I thought of him alot and would always wonder how he was fairing... I guess the Good Lord figured he wasnt ready for him and the Devil surely didnt want him.. ha ha Hugs to him the next time you see him... we do we do miss his stories...

I wish I had walnuts here I have a lot of native pecans that you can't get to for the poison ivy growing around the trees so thick and this is the best crop of hickory nuts I've seen in the nine years of living here they're sure hard to get the meat out of, I winder how well putting them in the driveway would work for them, I'd never heard of doing that but can see how well it would work for gatting the hulls off of the walnuts

We were roasting pecans the other day and didnt realize we were doing it until the burn pile was dying down and I spotted them lil suckers... which of course broke me out in a song that my husband and elderly neighbor started groaning at... CHESSNUTS ROASTING ON AN OPEN FIRE...... ha ha ha
