LOL sounds like a little romancing is going on. Chest out, tail up, wings dragging the ground and a gobble every now and then.

Good morning all. It has been a long week and its only Tuesday. Well after the non-trip to Blanchard on Saturday, we decided to fix the back steps. They were a little wobbly. Of course, by fixing them, we ended up ripping them out. All day Sunday was spent building a small deck and steps off the back side of the house. The back wall that we used was 12.5 feet long. The deck is 8.5 x 6.5, with the steps coming off against the house to make up the other 4 feet. All that is left is the railing and I gotta go pick out what type of railing that I want. I just need to find the time to do it.

I did figure out that we were never really missing a Mallard hen. We have two that look just alike, with matching half crests, and there was always one in the pen. It just turns out that they were there at different times. They were each setting on nests on opposite sides of the coop. So I now have one momma with 11 babies and another with a dozen eggs. I am going to candle the eggs tonight and see if they are any good.

Good news on the pickup. The transmission is fine. It turns out that DH only changed the one spark plug that looked bad and there were two more that were out. So after new spark plugs and wires, the pickup runs like new. He is kicking himself in the rear for not changing all of them Saturday morning, like we had discussed. He feels really bad, because he knows how much the kids and I wanted to go to Blanchard. Oh well, I guess I can use it as a bargaining chip the next time I really want something.

I lost my guard rooster since I was last on. He gave his life protecting his girls from a coyote.

I picked a barred Shamo bantam roo to take up the slack. But he is young and inexperienced. The girls don't trust him like they did ol Rocky. So you can keep an eye out for a good roo that knows what his job is. Protect The Girls!!!!!! At All Costs!!!!!!

DH is traveling for work, so I'm going to the Fletcher auction on Saturday. Saturday is usually our date night, so I've assigned myself a seat at the BYC table. I'm bringing a pecan pie for the food table. I hope to see a lot of BYC friends there. I haven't made up the list of birds I'm bringing yet, but I hope to have some really nice ones for the auction.

Sounds like you may be coming down with a terrible fowl flu bug. One that causes you to think rationally with regard to your chicken/poultry population.

We can surely "cure" you of that at the next auction. . . . or maybe you are coming down with a different addiction - maybe to acquiring rabbits? I can help you with any rabbit addictions - would you like some more mini-rex rabbits?

How are the guinea eggs that are in the incubator coming along?
