Why is it that the predators always strike the night after a storm? Two of my silkies got snatched, and a barred rock hen. But i caught two coons up a tree & had my boyfriend take'em down. Then last night i caught a possum in one of my live traps.

Two reasons. First they hole up during the storm and emerge afterwards hungry and secondly all of the trails/scents are fresh and easy to follow.

The first day after a big snow storm is a good day to call in Coyotes!

Peaches - Looking forward to the auction Saturday night. I'll send you a PM in a minute with the list of birds I'm bringing.

My students are walking on air this week. I've got a large group of kids matting and framing artwork for the Tulsa State Fair. I hope my colleagues are having an equally positive start in their classrooms. I overheard the nicest comment today. Two students sat hunched over their drawings, working and talking, and one said to the other, "I never knew I could draw until I took this class." That was my warm-fuzzy moment for this week.

Ivy,

I'm pretty sure EEs are crosses, and there is no standard. Ameraucanas do have a standard, which includes beards and muffs, but they aren't supposed to have ear tuffs. The EE crosses will lay colored eggs, but they aren't a pure breed like the Ameraucanas. All mine have tuffs, beards, and blue or greenish legs. I've seen a lot of chicks labeled Ameraucanas at places like Atwoods and TSC that have puffy cheeks but they have white or pink legs. I'm thinking those are EEs, but the hatchery is calling them Ameraucanas.

yes i agree those are EE , if they are coming from a hatchery or feed store , you are most likely always going to get EE , Ameraucanas by standard should have blue slate legs , bottom of feet should be white , only lay blue eggs have beards and muffs , no tufts , and there are only 8 recognized colors by the ABC , www.ameraucana.org is the club website which states the standards for ameraucanas and the recognized colors as well

o poco pollo , i got the trio of white ameraucanas from pips&peeps ( jean ribbeck ) is really nice and she sent me some beautiful birds too . Cant wait to get that first blue egg
