Hi all!!! Just got in from Dakota's football game, they won 22 to 6 over Hominy!!!! This is the second game they have won in two weeks!!!!
Hey Stimpy, really glad your home and doing better, you toe the line now and do what the Dr. says so as we can pester you when we have the next POOPS gathering!!!!
Lost one of my little White Leghorn chicks today and I swear the ones that are in the cage look more like Cornish crosses to me and they eat like horses, bur I guess we will see by next spring if they are Leghorns or CCs!!!! Lost one of my baby Doms also yesterday, it was dead in the pen, don't know what happened!!! Lynn

Awesome pictures Kassaundra, I'm putting a few dozen eggs into the incubator in the next couple days I'm hoping for a much better hatch rate than the first time

Hiya Stimpy, We've not met at least not on here but welcome back neighbor, I wonder how close you live to me I'm not far from YonderOak close to the county line.

I know that feeling. I've had to make up projects and come up with places that I needed to go just to get out of the house. I realized that I was doing the same amount of nothing everyday and it felt like my brain was just turning to mush. I had to start making lists of things that I needed or wanted to do or I would just veg out and look back at my day wondering where it went.

This may be why I have so many quail now. Hatching is always good for a quick fix and it's legal. If the authorities only knew, they would be here to impound my birds and send me to rehab.

Naaa they wouldnt send you to rehab, they would just create more breeding licenses and a special hatching tax.

As funny as that is I wouldn't be a bit surprised, I remember a few years back they were talking about taxing extra on veggie seeds so folks that garden could make up for lost revenue not buying from the grocery store..

So glad you could join us! Jump in & get to know all the friendly okies!!! Watch out for the one's that will help you flock grow larger than you planned! What are you going to have on your farm???

I just realized I am coming in late & you most likely have answered all this!

So far we are planning on having chickens (most likely an assortment of them), turkeys, ducks, guineas, ponies, goats, pigs, a steer to fatten up, our dogs, and probably a couple barn cats...

Of course we have to clear the land some more and section off the pastures and pens, build the chicken coop, etc. Have been offered a large chicken coop though and may just try to move that one to the farm...

Did I mention that we'll also have plenty of children running around? We have four children of our own, a granddaughter, and a bus load of nieces and nephews...

I might do that, I'm taking quiet a few pullets to free up some space but if I have time I'll stop by.

If they taxed me per bird, I think I would have a good shot at paying off the national debt . . . but the Tax Man would have to find me first! If he has as much trouble as the UPS driver we'll be safe awhile longer. I can avoid the egg tax by hiding them in my incubator and eating the extras! I sure am glad that Coturnix quail don't need a license, I'd hate to imagine the test questions.

Good morning, Okies
Looks like a lovely day - weatherwise.

Andy - if you went to the State Fair last night, I hope you survived the crowd. I had to take some pollen to the beekeeper booth after work and the cars were lining up to get into the parking lots. I was very grateful for my "volunteer" parking pass so that I could park fairly close to a gate and carry my box into the fairgrounds.

momma_raven - your plans for your farm sound wonderful. We would love to help you locate all the poultry and animals you need for your own petting zoo. We know where all the great auctions are located. Just speak up when you have your fences in place.

Kwartel - when I had a non-commercial breeder's license so that I could raise bobwhite quail and wild turkeys, the game warden just came out and looked at the facility where I planned to house them and I got the certificate. The main concern seemed to be adequate space and a plan that would prevent them from "escaping" their confinement area. There was some paperwork at the end of the year regarding what I had raised and its disbursement.

Today is a wine festival at the Canadian River Valley Winery, located South of Noble on Hwy 77 and Slaughterville Rd. I will be there from 10-2, selling honey on behalf of the Noble beekeeper's club. If any of you are in the area, come on by. I have never been to this "festival" so am not quite sure what to expect, although I have been told that wine samples are available.

I want to sell some Muscovy Ducks to make room for some younger ones that I want to buy (I know, it doesn't make sense, when I say it out loud), but it looks like I will have to wait until next weekend to hit an auction since I won't be able to get them to Blanchard at a decent time today in order to get them into the queque so that they sell before 10 pm.

Everyone - have a safe day.
