I was given the necropsy reports NN said bleeding to the trachea, he said that he would bet his money it was LT Vickie did good testing here she definatly does well I have no bad comments about her at all. I would like to see a more Professional way of euthanizing birds but everyone has there different methods. He explained to me how they would eradicate because the necropsy suggest 1 of the 3 I named. If its just culling my Q, Pen not a problem But if its full eradication he says I cant own anymore birds for 6 months till all test show clear.(assuming yard test) and there would not be reimbursment as Vickie stated.
I am doing my best with this and giving it to God, Personally I can rule out AI, Newcastle I have no idea LT test results should be here thurs, and the state doctor is comeing tomorrow with Vickie to swab Every bird on the yard or every group of birds 5 or so from each flock. then he is rushing the samples in person tostillwater to have them read so that he has definate anwsers by tomorrow afternoon as to if its AI or Newcastles

So if it is Newcastle's or LT then full out eradication with no reimbursment?? Do I have that right or full eradication if it is AI??
Well don't you have to tell them exaclty where you got your birds too? So the ones that were sick from the auction they would have to test that person's flock too right??

If its newcastle or AI its full eradication. if its LT then Its my choice what I do with them. ""Clinical signs: There are three forms of Newcastle disease -- mildly pathogenic (lentogenic), moderately pathogenic (mesogenic) and highly pathogenic (velogenic). Newcastle disease is characterized by a sudden onset of clinical signs which include hoarse chirps (in chicks), watery discharge from nostrils, labored breathing (gasping), facial swelling, paralysis, trembling, and twisting of the neck (sign of central nervous system involvement). Mortality ranges from 10 to 80 percent depending on the pathogenicity. In adult laying birds, symptoms can include decreased feed and water consumption and a dramatic drop in egg production"" Problem is I dont have high mortality rates infact in 4 months ish I havent lost one bird unless it was to a predator. I had one keel over and sent tothe lab and it was clean thats in my laying flock who is separated from the rest of the flock.

""Clinical signs: Avian influenza is categorized as mild or highly pathogenic. The mild form produces listlessness, loss of appetite, respiratory distress, diarrhea, transient drops in egg production, and low mortality. The highly pathogenic form produces facial swelling, blue comb and wattles, and dehydration with respiratory distress. Dark red/white spots develop in the legs and combs of chickens. There can be blood-tinged discharge from the nostrils. Mortality can range from low to near 100 percent. Sudden exertion adds to the total mortality. Egg production and hatchability decreases. There can be an increase in production of soft-shelled and shell-less eggs""
Again I have no signs of listlessness infact they have been threw 50 lbs of feed in one day I would hardly call that loss of apitite.

"" Infectious Laryngotracheitis Clinical signs: The clinical sign usually first noticed is watery eyes. Affected birds remain quiet because breathing is difficult. Coughing, sneezing, and shaking of the head to dislodge exudate plugs in the windpipe follow. Birds extend their head and neck to facilitate breathing (commonly referred to as "pump handle respiration"). Inhalation produces a wheezing and gurgling sound. Blood-tinged exudates and serum clots are expelled from the trachea of affected birds. Many birds die from asphyxiation due to a blockage of the trachea when the tracheal plug is freed""
Again there is no anyone being quiet in that pen every rooster is crowing for comptition I see no breathing problems.

Well I have a "gut" feeling it isn't any of the three. I think things are going to be ok. I really do. I refuse to believe it is any of the three. I definately don't see full out eradication maybe quarantine but not eradication per se. Let's look at this from a positive angle...My mom used to say play invisible

My thoughts will be with ya.

sorry to hear about your issue your dealing with M&M, i hope all goes well for you , i delt with Infectious Laryngotracheitis last winter , which came from birds i bought at the auction , my vet checked them out and had me use what he called 480's (sulfamethoxazole), 1 tab per 10 birds in enough water that they would drink within 24 hrs for three days and then off for 3 days and back on for three days .... but i also seperated the sick birds and gave them 1/4 cc of penicillin orally , which idk if that really helped but some of the birds got better , but it eventually flared back up and so that is when i got tylan 200 it seemed to work better and yet i continued to use the 480s with the tylan also .... since dog attacks i dont have any of those birds now , but it was a mess , so i can relate to where you are coming from

How is everyone else what are ya'lls plans for this weekend? Jason and I will be doing what we normally have been doing... continue to work around the property and get what we gotta get going on to make it roll. Renae has been kind enough to house our turkeys and ducks for us and I miss them darn birds company when I go out side to make no chickens have escaped to no mans land..
sad.png
It is hard and Mia our chinese goose knows something is amiss since them other birds went bye bye vacation and doesnt know when they will return... Despite all this it has relieved some stress of worry that they would "fly the coop" and be a bother since they are in safe keeping now at her place...

Yeah Carah there are times when we get to rest & relax but sometimes not so much LOL. I will try to make time for my Sunday we'll see, all of my new advertising finnaly hit the yellow pages this week that was 3 mo late due to some kind of book printing error ( yeah right ) and the business phone which has had cob web's on it as of late, is now finnaly ringing off the hook. So I am going to get it while the getting is good, plus there is a ton of things I need to attend to here at the ponderosa before the wifey has a cow hehehehehe. I am out the door see ya on here later tonight if I am still alive LOL.
