He He I am pretty good at sexing Buckeyes. I blame AL for my addiction he gave me a very nice starter rooster. To bad he cant ever be official breed stock. But I am currently using him over some of my WPR hens for meat birds.

Yeah, mine have been good layers since they started and are nice and meaty. I haven't made the leap over to eating them yet, but someday it will happen when there are extra roos. It is too bad about the coloring problems that some of the major breeders have been having. I was hoping to buy some chicks from good show stock this fall or spring to add to our flock, but it seems that there are none to be had. Bil had ordered some chicks last spring to be delivered this fall, but that breeder has apparently had a run of bad luck. No chicks and no refund. I'm hoping that he gets it together and gets us some birds eventually.

you can buy some birds from me if you Like I guarantee my breeder stock is some of the best birds in Oklahoma. There from a very reputable source and My next already laying trio is coming from Laura Haggarty (Secretary of the American Buckeye Poultry Club). My breeding pair are Show Quality I have one hen who is definatly on the Light Side. But my other hen and my Head Roo is perfect in color he has no black on the hackles. 0 black on the breast and a very nice dark color same as my main breeding hen. I only buy my Buckeyes from Top breeders of award winning Birds. the Buckeyes hatching as we speak came from an ALBC Roo who took Super Grand Champion and Best of breed at the Arkansas Show. heres a pretty good pic of my trio.

I spoke to Monty on the phone & he plans to be there. I think MM said that AL was going to try to be there.

I keep telling him he is going to get in trouble! LOL. Selling your birds & offering to dub for me. We did two yesterday but one was bleeding pretty good so we are waiting a day or two to do anymore. That works better for me on the cages anyways. I don't care for dubbing, I hope they change that someday.

Yep, I had to band them different so I could stop having to re-determine.

I stay in trouble, it is much more exciting that way, and I get to atone for my sins too.
You can slow the bleeding considerably if you will dip the comb in ice water for a few seconds before making the cuts and a few times after to both restrict blood flow and wash away the blood.

So today is Buckeye hatch day. I ordered 2 dozen eggs from 2 different breeders. Urch strain. and ALBC strain. I am so exited to see these little guys pipping and popping this is the start of something brilliant. and by late spring early summer I plan to be Hatching some of the good strains of buckeyes.

I did the cold water after but not before. He is doing good this morning but if I had it my way I wouldn't show OEGB just because of the dubbing. I know I'm a sissy.
