She looks more BB Red than brown red to me. At least that would be the color if she were Old English. My Old English Brown Red Hens are black with red hackles. She looks to have more of a partridge color like a BB Red hen would.

Poco - i think she resembles my McLean hatch hens, only yours is a little darker in coloration.

Sooner - mark and keep a record of the offspring from your green-legged rooster, and on down as they produce offspring so that you don't interbreed them which would bring back the green legs.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your thoughts on the identity of my mystery hen. I'm happy she started laying. When she has all her feathers regrown, I'll post another picture and we'll have another round of "What Am I" for the folks who know game hens.

Anyone (probably Silkie owners) out there have experience with chickens having head injuries? I have a white Chantecler cockerel who got into it with a buff Wyandotte cockerel today. The Chantecler lost, and I think he's had a nasty bump on the head. He's off his food and water unless held and coaxed. He was sitting alone, staying to himself, which is not his normal behavior. I noticed he walked backward, again not normal, so I put him in a travel cage. He has a red mark at the base of his comb from fighting, but no broken skin that I can find. He struggles and kicks if I touch his head. I gave him a dose of vitamin E (cut the top off a gel capsule) and will get some baby vitamins tomorrow. What else can I do for him? I can hand feed him since I'm on vacation. Has anyone had a head injury case that recovered? I really like this little guy. He's been fearless: first to fly, first to roost, first to knock others off the coop.

Well I could sure be worng. Not that it hasn't happened before. We used to have game chickens like her running around the farm and the guy we got them from said they were brown red so that is what I going by, We had some lighter and some like her.
Carl, You know the OEG colors better than me so if the full same game are colored like the bantams then you are probably right.

Cuban and you may be right also, she could have some hatch in her as well. There are so many varieties of game I can't keep track.

We had a great suprise today while we were out shopping today we ran into doc and peaches at atwoods. they both were tired but in great spirit. Such a wonderful gift to have him home for the holidays also to all bycers merry christmas and happy new year!
