Hmmm....my DD built her incubator last Spring when she was 7 almost 8. You could assist with any wiring or there are a few ways around even needing it. I bought a digital thermostat thing that Macy just had to plug her light into and set the temp and a USB fan so it can just be plugged in as well. There are a lot of options that don't require any wiring.

I can't remember the name of the one she used, but here's another type of option... http://cgi.ebay.com/Zilla-1000-Watt...210?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a62075282 Or another http://www.amazon.com/Thomas-Betts-XL150D-Socket-Dimmer/dp/B000BO68VA with http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&productId=100170446&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&ci_sku=100170446&ci_src=14110944&cm_mmc=shopping-_-googlebase-_-D27X-_-100170446&locStoreNum=2220&marketID=421

Used
one of the reptile rheostats for our first temp controlled brooder when I was worried about wiring things.

Question: I saw some beautiful blue Andalusia chickens last night at the auction. They had "hen feathers" (rounded) and spurs. I did a vent check on them since AnnaBell was interested in purchasing them and their bones were no wider apart than that of a rooster, so I doubt they had ever laid an egg. So - why would a chicken have both total hen feathers and spurs? Is it a boy or a girl?

Several of us were discussing those birds. I was informed they were some birds mike had picked up from Superior when they went out. I had never seen a Blue, Rosecombed, hen feathered, bird with spurs and am still curious to know what they were.

I would go with really poor breeding P&B.

I know while I was looking at some of the birds at shawnee that there were some ros that did not have spurs and were very henny looking. Year before there was a lady selling silkies and had a hen that she was tired of showing but wanted a junior shower to have some success with but it had never laid an egg...there comes a point when yu select for qualities other than those that a chicken should have and you get issues.

it is getting very cold...it is gonna take me forever to get water to birds tomorrow...

I also was quite intrigued when I saw them, I didn't handle them though. So what is the consenses on these birds.

I say...forget them and was there any cool bantams of guinea pigs? I also want more of them cool speckeled rabbits..no I don't..I have too many rabbits...stupid rabbit bit me...so...yup...I have had alot of chocolate today...it is cold...

The whole superior hatchery thing makes sense, most of us really don't know what goes on at the Hatcheries or as in most cases their contract breeders in regards to breeding. And then we see a bird like we saw last night and we all start talking and wondering LOL.
