Sorry went to stuff my face.

I see you had company while I was away. Once again I wish I were goign to make the auction but hey I'm closer to being finish so I can come.

What auction will be on the weekend of Feb 25th?

I actuall have to have signed afidavits before she believes anything i say in regards to birds or fuzzy animals anymore. The real issue now is finding someone to split gas with...needs to get folks moving!

We stuffed our faces and went for a fire drill...it was actually very nice outside...I hope that means my birds are getting water...there should be some thawing!

Okay Teach... if you had to make a decision to pick one of the birds I am considering (still haven't decided yet, depends on how many cages I can get gathered up) taking to the auction, what would it be and maybe I'll hold it until POOPS and enter it in that auction.

Sooner - the 26th of February is the 4th Saturday - which is Blanchard.

Teach - I firmly believe that thawing water makes for a good drink for thirsty birds. That is why I don't totally empty the ice out of all water pans if there is space on top of the ice to add water and the weather is supposed to warm up.

Blanchard~ good deal. I hope to make that one!!

Hope the water is thawed here too. I am tired of hauling water & wouldnt' have to if I would just get the other cookie tin's made. Have all the stuff just not the time! LOL.

the one I had decided to not live anymore...not real sure why...I even forgave her tendency to eat eggs cuz she only did it when I put her in a cage with a roo for breeding...got her a bigger cage and she quit...so..um..them! and maybe the roo...well...malay saipan sounds nice...then...

I have the cookie tins - just need to go get the stuff to make put some light bulbs in them and attach a sturdy cord. I see a trip to Lowes or Home Depot this weekend - and I have the information from Carl regarding the kind of light bulbs to get to encourage hens to lay.

I forgot to remind Dean that I turned the water back on to the main coop in November, after he drained all the lines from the well to the sprinkler system. There is a small leak in the metal line that lays on top of the ground and with the extremely cold weather this week, it froze and made a small lake in the chicken yard. I think it did the same thing last year and then once it thawed, we didn't have any problems with it leaking excessivly over the summer. (I seem to recall getting the same doomsday lecture last year after I turned the water back on because the expected freeze wasn't any big deal and we had another two months of above freezing temps) Anyway, I am hauling water to the main coop until warm weather, when I can turn that line back on. Hopefully, he will run a line from the city water out to the chicken coop this Spring and put in a frost free hydrant in the chicken coop, so we won't have this "issue" next year.

My chickens in the main coop have started laying more eggs. I don't know if it is the increased light, the fact that I wormed them or a change in their feed, all of which happened at about the same time 2 weeks ago, but I will take the extra eggs - particularly now that the withdrawal period has expired.
