Chickens!

I have decided to create some Blue Copper Frizzle Naked Neck Olive-Eggers .... well, I mean I intend to let my chickens do that. I guess I need to start my incubators back up again soon, but first I need to get a pen with olive-eggers and frizzle naked necks together.

Hey Carla, I got a very pretty Frizzle Roo from BethinOklahoma, he is a pretty BluRed color with lots of Orange in the neck HHackles. Did he come from you? Would you happen to have some Frizzle hens to go with him? Blue preferably! Do Frizzles breed true. Do I need to breed them some sertain way to retain the Frizzle gene? Lynn

Hmmmm .... I don't think Beth got the roo from us, but I really don't know. We're only raising frizzle naked necks, from a frizzle naked neck rooster we bought over a year ago at the Cement auction. I don't think frizzles always breed true, but we sure get a high percentage of frizzles when we use frizzle roosters over smooth hens. I'm not sure how good frizzle to frizzle naked necks are. We finally have a pen of mostly frizzle naked necks, but I got so tired of incubators and chicks in the house that we stopped all hatching. I'm starting to get the hatching itch again though

We do have some blues and blue/red frizzles, and we have blue/red olive-eggers that are crossed with blue ameraucana & blue copper marans, so now I just need to cross these and see what hatches out of them & wait til the pullets lay eggs to see if my experiment creates some awesome blue copper frizzle naked neck olive-eggers!

I'll probably have some frizzle naked neck pullets available soon ... but no blues ... they are my project birds!
