We had a gp a few years back we had some sheep oops!!lol when we got rid of them we put the dog with the chickens and it seemed to come natural nothing was safe in the chicken yard except the chickens.

Can anyone give me information on the maud auction? I have never been there.

firefighter, glad u got rain! Here in the black hole of storms (Chickasha), we got NOTHING. Ok, I take that back, about four drops hit my car during my break earlier. *haha*

Carla, I love that picture, that is too cute!! But it won't be long before a paw is all that will fit in that bucket. *ha*

I'm really wanting to go check out the Newcastle auction, but I'm afraid the heat may be too much. Lets hope it rains soon!

We got a bit of rain last night!

It felt sooo nice yesterday when the cloud cover came, cooled things down. I thought I might actually have to get a jacket.

Hi everyone, Gerald and I were going to the Maud auction last night, within 20 miles of it, when I got awfully sick and we had to turn around.

I am just now starting to feel better, but now ache all over. It is not so fun when you get a stomach virus or food poisoning or whatever it was when there's no bathrooms nearby. We had to get to the nearest gas station ASAP and .... well you don't want to details of getting back home. Needless to say, I had a close relationship with the toilet all through the night.

The Maud auction is a great place to BUY goats, local produce, and if they have them, eggs and chicks. The bird prices seem to be low too. Our only complaint is that they don't get to the birds until around 9 pm, which is late, if you work days.

We should be going to Newcastle on Saturday, and intend to bring lots of something, probably even hatching eggs. We've been hatching lots of chicks, and have some up to a couple months old that need to be sold.

I'd be wanting her too ... but I'd better not get any more dogs. I don't want the neighbors to complain, and I think there's a limit of 5 where we live ... we have 5. My 2 pyr pups decided to get out of the yard today too ... I need to find out where.

I realize this is sort of off topic, but I am in a pickle of sorts, I need to have someone pull some blood for the pullorum-typhoid test. I've had some leads through the Oklahoma Ag animal industry gal. I've got 2 geese I'd like to enter into the Tulsa State Fair. Does anyone in the Northeastern Oklahoma area have any good leads on how I can get this done? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is slightly random, but not too much since we have been talking aobut 106 degree heat and no rain, and now we are getting it.....

I read this good book recently and wanted to recommend it to my fellow Okies.

It was sent to a publisher before Steinbecks Grapes of Wrath came out, and was approved for publishing, and then his book came out, swept the nation, and the Author, Sanora Babb was told that the market would not support another book on the subject of the dust bowl. Many say that this book is a better book than Grapes of Wrath. She was an Oklahoman who experienced the dust bowl firsthand, and wrote a novel based on many of her families experiences. It's a great book. Very simply, but intelligently written.
if you are interested, I think you can get the book cheaper at the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History. I got it there for 14.95 I think.

We are getting ready for the Ottawa County Fair on the 19th and the gal that I help with the poultry barn does the pullorum testing for our barn. I have her number if you want to come up this far. PM me and I will get it to you.
