I was joking about the jacket bit btw.

But man, it did feel nice. I turned the a/c off and opened the house up.

How much? We lost our aged boxer a couple weeks ago. We live on a farm with poultry, horses, and cattle. I NEED a watchdog.

We show horses and will be gone this weekend to Tulsa for the Reichert Celebration, but will return late Sunday.

THANKS!

KB:)

PS. BTW...if anyone is interested, we returned from the World Championship Show also held in Tulsa a week ago....our home bred, raised, and trained third generation gelding was no lower than fourth in all his classes while garning One World Championship and Two Reserve World Championships.

Oh I wish so bad I could have that puppy!!! But we live in town, and our yard is too small for such a large dog.

Pyrenese love guarding chickens, it'd be a great (free) investment! *ha*

GoldRose, congrats!! I think it means so much more that you guys were the ones bringing up the horse from the beginning. Want to raise me a pony? *haha* My hubby told me that if he got a motorcycle, I could have a horse. I was way excited! So now he's backing out on buying a bike.

Carla, so sorry you got sick!

I hope you are well soon.

If I don't make it to Newcastle, good luck with your sell! And of course, be sure to give us an update.

Firefighter, are you talking about the Newcastle auction? I may have missed something, sorry.

madgoose, the only person I know to even contact about pullorum testing is down around here, somewhere in Tuttle. Good luck in your search!

Just wondering, is there ANYONE on this board that lives in Grady County? And whether you are or not, do you plan on going to the County fair? It is August 21-23.

Thanks, Cammie! We are so proud of him (Ace).
You will have to come to the Thanksgiving Classic we are putting on at the Grady County Fairgrounds over T-day....LOTS of pretty yellow horses for you to see.

I'm hoping to get the doggie. We are leaving in just a few minutes for Tulsa.

I don't know how to make a link, but if anyone is interested in seeing how the 'horse folks' have fun...check it out.

I sent you a PM (I'm not too adept at using this board).

I'm outta here for a bit, but I'll sure 'nuff get back with you. Hubby and I checked out the GP on their homepage....sound like just what we need. I'll bet they are having a difficult time in this weather. Do you ever shave yours for summer?

THANKS KB :)

For those in central Ok/OKC area both the wife and I are cert. state testers for NPIP. You can call the state agriculture dept. and they will do a flock test also and many times they will also do an AI screen as well. But only a state vet can pull the blood to test for AI and END. GoldRose I hope you do very well today, go get 'em!

Hey Fellow Oklahomans

I am proud to be an Oklahoman, and love the history and strength in our state. I have lived here for four years and came from Southern California, a place that should crack and fall off into the ocean. It has become very scary there. Anyway, I am glad to be here! I live west of Altus and east of Duke in southwest OK. I have 22 chickens, 5 BO, 9 BR, and 8 RIR. I sell my eggs in Altus. I love my hennies... they are my therapy. I sit out in the evenings with a glass of wine and watch them scratch. They are my best friends. I am married for 27 years, no kids, but take care of my elderly mom. I met Al from Elgin today and it was such a blessing to talk "Chicken" with someone. He told me about the auction in Cement, and I will be there with bells on in September. Well, thanks for having me... I hope to meet you guys soon!

I am glad you "found" Oklahoma, I have to agree with you that it is a wonderful state and I would not want to live anywhere else.
We visited California several years ago and I decided that it was no place for us "Okies". I love the beach but I could do without the

Well anyway welcome!! Lots and Lots of great info here, I have learned alot already.

Welcome HennyPennies! I'm glad you like Oklahoma. I've lived in other states, Sacramento CA area as a teen, and San Antonio, TX as a 30 something year old, and Oklahoma is my favorite. Well, I did like some things about those other places, but this is just home!

We just got back from the Newcastle Auction, which will be the Blanchard Auction as of next month. They intend for the auction to be held every 2nd Saturday of the month, so the next one is scheduled for September 13th at the new Blanchard Ag Building. We didn't pick up their flier, so I'm not quite sure of where it's at, but I'm sure it will be advertised on craigslist soon ... I hope! Oh, and they said they are even considering changing to twice a month if the response is good enough. I just hope they can make it ... hopefully they made enough commission to pay the rent today.

We really enjoyed the auction, although it was entirely too hot in the building today. Apparently Newcastle didn't allow the auction people to use the air conditioners ??? The fans were not enough to keep people and birds/animals cool. I hear that the new Ag Bldg. in Blanchard is definitely air conditioned!

Gerald and I enjoyed the auction, and sat next to Lisa, aka Critter, and we also saw Rebecca and her husband, aka Muesky there. Glad to see ya'll there! We definitely saw lots of new buyers at the auction. Bird prices were good, hatching egg prices were low, and rabbit prices were low. We were quite satisfied with the price of our chicks that we sold, but it just makes Gerald want to stuff more eggs in the incubator now! It is surely getting too late in the season to hatch more chicks! Oh, and I just remembered, I bought 9 bunnies

I just couldn't pass up the price! I think they're lops, but not totally sure

Maybe their ears were drooping from the heat
