All these extreme weather changes can sure put a damper on a hen laying...are you feeding a high protein layer pellet?

I should have known that would be a question because I have thought that too. I just purchased the Chicken Layer pellet from TSC and I can't remember anything else. Also have some scratch that I let the boys throw in. Any recommendations?

Your so funny AL, you think I could make it to an auction without Maddie girl? No way no how. She loves auctions & as always she makes friends everywhere she goes. Had a guy wanting to give her OEGB! Since I had just hauled 16 home when I was expecting 3 to 5, I was able to talk her out of it. LOL.

Just give them a good layer pellet, 20% is a good common feed, and greens do them a lot of good, if you dont have them where they can get to lots of grass, apples, watermelons, tomatoes, etc....are good for them...

Also remember that scratch is like candy to them, there is no value in it for them so best only to feed as a treat & very sparingly.

They need a layer between 15%- 20%. Also keep in mind it takes a chicken 10 days(I believe) to build an egg up so you might have gotten what was already there but when you move a chicken to a new home it stresses them sometimes and it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month for them to start producing regularly again. Patience and time is the best!

there is some value in scratch, I mix my own, 1/3 chopped corn, 1/3 crimped oats and 1/3 black sunflower seeds...I dont remember how much, but there is definitely nutritional value in scratch if mixed right...I also added an alfalfa pellet to my scratch but the birds havent started eating it very good yet....
