Well, Leopard Curs and Catahoulas are two separate breeds...common opinion is that they once were the same breed, and I can definitely see how it could be so, and at some point some folks selected some that had the trailing/treeing traits and bred for them, possibly crossing hounds in them, and they took the others that had the desire to bay and work stock and bred for that mentality, hence there are two different breeds...leopard curs or leopard hounds as they are now registered, are nice open trailers, medium hunters with more brains than your average hound. Your Catahoulas are very similiar in build and look, but a totally different type of dog, more of a silent trailer with very few of them having the desire to tree....

My Red came from a silent trailer....he actually points with a foot lifted. I got to watch a tree baying dog work once...beauty in action and song!

I have had 3 catahoulas, I loved 2 of them, the third was as dumb as a bag of hammers...one of them was exceptional at everything he did, he could also fly on a coon track and would stay at the tree for hours, but would not bark on track or tree...I would love a good leopard, I had considered breeding my bluetick hound to one and see what I can get...

Nanakat, I'm sure everything will go great, be sure to get lots of rest tonight~! Let us know when you make it home & a special prayer that your DH gets in & out before any other trama cases show up!

I am really missing my beagles, I had a trio of beagles that could circle a rabbit for hours...not fast enough to catch him but fast enough to keep it interesting...has a chop mouth little female, an old horn bawl on my old rambler male dog (RIP) and a good high pitched squall mouth on a dog I sold that ended up winning the arkansas state hunt twice, lol...

There is a Catahoula rescue in Prague...they had some great contacts with Catahoula owners/lovers.
