Sigh, that map says we are gonna get 8-12 here. My kids are never going back to school!

It is 25 here, feels like 12.

Don't feel lonely, mine have now been out a full 5days. Don't see them going back until Monday.

That is my thinking. I homeschool 3 of them, but my 13 year old (who just got here from Russia almost a year ago) says in perfect English, "I am sick of the kids" lol It was kind of funny. She has been the one that has been acting up the most. The three that go to school are wanting to go back. Sad thing is thye have been sick off and on, so not able to play outside. Today is the first day they have all been well.

The new chicks helped with the boredom. I thought my 17 yr old was gonna die when he could not go out with friends and go to tech (he homeschools also). Not looking forward to tomorrow. But we are all stocked up with food. And some crafts to do tomorrow!

It's possible their lives will be saved by roosting in your barn because the temps are going to be brutal again after tonight's snow. A lot of wild birds perish in this kind of weather. Hope they are some of the more "desirable" varieties. I've read of somewhere around 2 dozen bluebirds freezing to death that had packed themselves into a pipe hoping to keep warm.

Gotta take care of the wild birds in this weather. With out us, so many would die. After the huge snowfall we had, there is nothing out there for them to eat. I've been feeding them and there are more showing up every day. I don't remember seeing so many different kind of birds in one place at one time. To look out the window and see all the colors in the white snow is worth every penny I spend to feed them. So many sizes and colors, from tiny little silver/blue ones on up to a pair of wild mallards, and a lot in between.

I agree, we feed the wild birds too, have for years and this year we have seen so many more and differant varieties. My father lives in the woods in Clayton and he gets a bigger variety then I do here in town. My car is parked near the bird feeding station so I sometimes put the long lens in the camera and a couple of towels covering the car window and stalk the birds like a lone paperatzi while they eat or bathe.

This is gonna be so much fun.

I just got some BR and some EE froma guy in Inola. They are cuties. PM if you want the number. The coop was way to crowded, but he was real cheap, They looked healthy and are doing well today.

He was on craigslist. The ad said, "Brown egg layers"

He doesn't seem to know much about breeds etc, but if you know, maybe you could pick them out.

I want to believe whomever is predicting the least amount of snow - but at the office we are preparing for the possibility of a closed office on Wednesday. It doesn't make any sense why there are such wide variations in the predicted amount of snow.

Well, I volunteered to take the late shift so a friend who lives even farther out in the country wouldn't have to drive at 9:00 at night. We don't ever close our offices, no matter how bad the weather or how dangerous the conditions. I figure the reason the library never gets to close due to weather is because the president of the union works there.

I will be once again taking my pillows and blankets in case I need to spend the night again.
