those ag extension jobs make you deal with way too many adults...they are worse than junior high kids...they want to call you up for advice and then tell you how wrong you are

I'm going to respectfully disagree w/ those calling it Dutch Elm disease. That (DED) is a fungus that attacks the tree from specific entry points and you can see the fungus between the bark and wood especially in the form of black lines, mold, fungus. It attacks the sap delivery system in elm trees so the foliage would be damaged long before the bark started peeling and usually attacks a tree in sections like a limb or two then spreads not so much globally like the pics show, and I don't see any fungus in the pics. My bet would be on wood boring insects. Can you see holes tiny ones the size of a pencil point all over the inside of the bark? As much as I HATE "icides" of all kinds I think that is your only possibility to save the tree, and w/ as much damage as there already is I would say it is a slim chance.

Oh and by the way the wood boring insects also attack the sap delivery system of a tree just between the bark and wood.

No need to respectfully disagree...most of us just go with a wild guess!

now if we start talking baout feeding hogs watch out!

On a totally I get to brag front! I just got called from Clayton. He is at the county livestock show. He entered one goat after we lost two animals to death
roll.png
Anyways his class had 5 animals and apparently was very tight...the judge looked long and hard and placed clayton 2nd and another kid first...looked again and switched them so Clayton won his class!!! they go out for the grand drive...the kid that he beat out is a senior shower and has had animals for several years and enters several...they take his heavy weight for grand...but then pull Claytonfor RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION!!!! He gets an animal in the sale!!

I was a little worried about things having lost the two animals. He placed third in junior showmanship...a few issues withcleg placement and stance. He isn't exactly the most focused kid!

ok guys- have had our house guinea outside in a pen so the others can see her during the day- with the nice weather- so far the others are curious, pecking at the fence at her, laid down next to the pen for a bit, preening and talking- how long do i need to do this for them to get used to her? is it like chickens?
