Lol, ya I am strictly breeding old english bantams, but I have a rooster and 4 hens that are the modern game bantams, just for fun...

Well my staggering hatch is continuing. 33 out of 60 hatched so far. One died. Others are still pipping.
Usually my hatches are over in a day this one has been weird.
We'll see what the rest of the day produces.

KarenN, good looking birds. Glad your son chose NN's. They seem to be the HOT chicken breed this year.

Any chance you know what varieties those are??? I will have to look at the package to know what I have.....just know that one was red & one was green! They are sprouting now, I am so excited. Got onions popping too and one potato, wonder if I didn't get him deep enough.....

I plant Romaine for head lettuce (it will also bolt later and will self sow for a fall crop. Also makes it late into Dec in spite of freezes.) For leaf lettuce: Red Sails, Black Seeded Simpson and Oak Leaf.
Most head lettuces will crack and bolt or not head up in our hot weather.

.

Thanks Nana, I'm not doing in head lettuce but will hold onto that info for the another time when I might.

Thanks. I should have some hatching again soon. I promised to take my incubator to a school for a hatching project next month. I hope to have it filled with as many Welsummer eggs as I can.
