Wayne I'm gonna guess Yellow Legged Hatch, without seeing how he stands and how he is shaped that is my best guess. He is blind in one eye from being in a fight probably if he has scares. These are usually know as a "Blinker" and if they are good at their "sport" then they are kept sometimes as breeders. The spurs are cut off to put the "Gaffs" on usually but if he is a "man-fighter" they may have trimmed them to keep him from hurting the handlers so much, be very careful handling him, just because the spurs are cut does not mean he won't hurt you, I have been hit so hard in the wrist it made my hand numb for hours!!! And believe me if he get a "bill hold" on your arm and his legs are free he will flog the CRAP out of you!!!! He is Beautiful and if you are breeding him to the Green legged Hatch looking hen then you should get more just like both of them. If you need a home for them give me a holler!!!! Lynn

Jim : Do you have a good Hygrometer/thermometer combo in there ???, if not they are a must have for better hatches. I keep 3 in mine when I am hatching.

AL

I only had a thermometer, I checked it with another one when I first set it up. what is a good source for Hygrometer/thermometer? I have a friend with the same setup and they hatch 75%.

Sounds to me like maybe too much air was exchanged cooling the eggs or maybe the temp was just set too low on the bator.

If you are using a thermometer that came with the bator the first thing that I want you to do is throw that thing as far as you can.

Next get a better one, perferably a digital with a high/low temp recall feature. I have been using one from Petsmart that is intended for reptile habitats and has a hydrometer built into it for years now.

Next I want to see where you have the bator set up. Any floor or ceiling vents near by? Does the room temp stay constant or nearly so all day and through the night? Does the sunlight from a window shine in on the bator at any time?

Sorta, an Indian nation (I want to say Cherokee, but can't remember) bought it and has a preschool in there as well as some offices that deal with some different things. honestly not real sure what all they do in there, though.
not many people have ever heard of bc, but it's neat when they have.

It's such a nice town that I wish wasn't off a toll road or I'd visit it more often when driving that direction. I HATE TOLL ROADS. I'm sure glad that old school hasn't been demolished and is still useful. I really liked the old gymnasium. My dad played basketball there ... or at least I heard he did. When we were there, I saw a picture of him as a teenager along with other boys wearing basketball uniforms.

just teasing. My family has been in this area for a VERY long time. I'm wanting to say the 30s or 40s just can't remember lol. one of the oldest families anyways. we lived in Missouri for a while when i was young then dad and i moved back here about 16 or so years ago. i lived here, vinita and welch the here again.

Well I figured either you or Teach would want them! Yes the hen is green legged. He is a beautifuk specimen! I really liike the dark coloring.I was carrying him to another pen and had him upside down and he grabbed a hold of my pants leg and wouldn't let go! I think he still has a lot of good breeding left in him. Dn't believe he is tht old. I hope the hen lays while I have her!

Jim : I use these I think I got them at Walmart, they work well if calibrated.

welcome-byc.gif

a few weeks ago when i was new, I just skipped to the end lol
There is a gathering of BYC members called POOPS coming up in May also

i finally found the nifty spot that i could change the amount of posts per page... good thing, i read faster the more there is per page. lol i have it set where there's only 100 some odd pages at 75 posts per page... i try and skim the posts in a thread before i say much

Fewer pages make for faster readin', now why didn't I think of that?
