yes penny there will be plenty of birds for raffle and sell. shnooky how old are your birds? if not too old you could maybe enter them in the costumed chicken contest. And if the are 5 to 6 months old you could enter them in the main show as cockeral or pullets, and I am checking on the price of the testing and as far as leg bands if you have them tested for a show they will usally band them for you too for younger birds you might try a wingband. I will keep you updated

Hooligan still no emails whatsoever and the same for pms the last on I got was on the day I called you?

I would like to go. Never been to a chicken...anything..before. I am going chicken crazy though. All kinds of chickens now. But all mine are chicks right now. So I don't know how much good that will do me in showing them.

I need to know some things...

Date: June 7th?

Leg bands... ????? I got all my chicks from a feed store... No clue on banding them...

Typhoid or whatever disease test... how much does that usually cost, and do I have to test ALL chicks I bring or just one?

Papers..what are those exactly??? Cost?

The Chickenstock is June 7th, doors open at 7:30am Legbands are a way to ID your bird as are wingbands and wingbands are better to use on younger birds and chicks, you can have all tested or just one. I am checking on the cost for that, the cost to enter the main show is 3.00 per entry, and for the contests it is 1.00 per entry (meaning Per Bird) let me know if you need any more information I will be glad to help. Mawchickkidie, ps it is going to be held in Poteau, Oklahoma, and the Poteau Fairgrounds in the main Barn.

THank you Mawchickie. The only thing I didn't hear was what papers were and how to get them..

I don't like to wing band. I had some of my pullets that were wing banded when I bought them. But all the other chickens would try to eat these off of them and hurt them.

Oh and the papers are what you get when you get your bird or flock tested, for the show we just need a copy. If the birds are just chicks I don't think you would need to get them tested, you might want to check with the feed store and see which hatchery they ordered them from and then we will get togather and see if that is a NPIP particpating hatchery. I so you might not need to worry about the papers or testing for the chickenstock, but you might want to have them test when they are older, that is if you are planning on showing them, as most shows around here require all birds entered to be tested for the Pullorum and Typhoid. Hope this helps mawchickkidie

I willl have to let hooligan do that for you cause I'm not sure how to, and she is a wiz at that stuff.

also everyone one of the judges will be John Tunstill out of Fayetteville, Ark.

Everyone wanting to enter the show or the contests or have a booth let me know so I can get you on the list and get the catalogs and entry forms out to you.

I wasn't going to bring any birds... But I thought to bring some eggs to donate for the raffle. You know to participate. I have French Cuckoo Marans, I will try and post an image on the MySpace page.
