oklahoma chickenstock-- SUCCESS!!!AWESOME!!!THANKS TO ALL!!

Well its still not decided on the date as of yet, I still need more peoples input on the date thing and saturday sounds like will be our best bet, as far as for the familys.

For sure, a Saturday would be best especially for those who work during the week and might live a distance away.

My husband has family that grew up in Summerfield so we know exactly where you are!
Saturday definitely works best for us, since he works during the week.
I can't do a whole lot, but if there is anything I can do to help please let me know. I don't know about sponsors due to the fact that anyone's I get would be from the Purcell, Lex, Wanette area so not much help for your area. Sorry.

But I think the OK foods is a great idea!
I also love the idea about the costume contest. Maybe we should have an ugliest chicken contest!? That would be kind of funny!

I also agree with the one day deal, I know at least for us it would be difficult to come 2 days.
I will also ask around at the Poultry auction that I am going to in Cement on the 5th and see if I can come with some more ideas and generate some more interest.
Anything else you can think of that I can do to help pull this off jut let me know. I think it sounds like GREAT fun!

kaacres, great to have you on board, and I was just thinking of that uglyest chicken contest idea this morning, seem all great minds think alike!

Well as the day of week goes everyone seems to be in favor for doing it on Saturday, so Saturday it is. It also sounds like most of you would like to have it in early June, so Saturday, June 7th is the date I will try for, and we will use July 19th as a back up date just in case. Like I said the fair board is having a meeting on the 1st and I will know for sure by then. I the mean time, we need to kinda make a list of what we want to do, as for as shows go, we are going to have the costume and uglyest chickens contests. I will be donating some eggs, a rooster, and some chicken decor' as raffle items. Anyone else who wants to donate for raffles PM me and let me know.I am still undecided as to the food. Also I still need everyones opinion on the pigon/waterfowl combined in to the stock, see back posts for details and let me know what ya'll think. OK well I've kept ya'll reading long enough. Can't wait to hear from everyone.

I can donate some eggs to. But I am very new to this! So it would be up for grabs as to wether they are fertile or not. Also I have RIRs, Cochins, Welsummers, and Barred Rocks all in together. So the breed would be up for grabs too! But if you think anyone might want an "Egg Grab Bag" so to speak I can take care of that! I might take one of my Cochin roos to the auction at Cement but here is his pic, if anyone might be interested in him as a raffle I will talk to DH about saving him for that. Just let me know if you think he will be useful.

CHickenstock 2008 was the thread wherewe discussed the national event. It kind of died out but you might look on there for ideas.

Edited to add: Maybe you could get Wildhorse Mountain BBQ to cater it? MMMMMMMMMMMM!

How about calling some of the feed mills. To see if they would come and set up with samples and what not.
I know that there is a mill in McAlester and one in Muskogee.

WildHorse BBQ is mmmmm good.
Here in Spiro we have a new BBQ place that is just as good it's at the town lake I can't remember what the name is I'm thinking Papa's but I'm not sure.

well that BBQ does sound good but I will be the one who would have to pay and I don't know that I could afford all that!

The feed mills idea sounds good I will look in to that. Also if ya'll are in any breed clubs make sure to mention to them and see if they might like to set up booths at the stock. well I will talk to ya'll a little later.
