My favorite is warm olive oil for earaches, add garlic for infection. If the pain is real bad a moist towel that has been on the woodstove to get warm.
Vinegar for ear problems, yogurt for all issues digestive, white Dial solution soak for puncture or infected wounds; nasty Recluse bites get peroxide followed by antibiotic ointment 3 times a day. A good peroxide ear cleaning can sometimes stop an early cold in its tracks. Carrots, apples, parsley and horseradish in a salad or juicer can shorten a cold.

I actually like to use backing soda and an alcohol based mouthwash. It dries faster and I imagine helps take some of the poison out.
Although I have to admit some of these home remedies make me a little wary. Hydrogen peroxide is one of those chemicals I reserve for cleaning only. It simply tears apart anything in it's path good or bad.
