Oooooh, I love my OEGBs! I've only had them for a couple years now, but they've rapidly become a favorite!

I answered Silver Duckwing and Other for the poll because I have just the one SDW, but most of mine are Fawn (and Khaki) Silver Duckwing. And, obviously, I want more varieties than just them, so it leaves my answer open-ended for that.

I'm hoping to eventually add Crele and some variety of blue duckwing for some interesting crosses with my Khakis, but also because they're just so darn pretty. I was going to get at least one of those varieties this year, but, well, a lot of my plans for this year kind of fell flat. So it goes.

Anyway, I love all the OEGB pictures here and can't wait to see more!!

I posted in this thread when I was quite new to breeding these OEGB'S.
Now I've officially started breeding these birds for show! I'm still breeding the BB reds, but now I also have a pair of Whites, Blue reds, Silver duckwings, and BB golden. I'm looking to add Opal, BBS, and Fawn duckwings in the coming months.

Do you still breed those Fawns?? They're beautiful!

Unfortunately no. I do have a few of them around still, but the local hawks developed an appetite for travel-sized dinners off of my OEGBs, so I had to abandon actively breeding them for now. I do want to save up and build a nice, big coop with an aviary after I graduate so that I can breed them again without so many losses to hawks, though. I really do adore the breed and miss having teeny tiny babies in my brooders each year.

Awe man, that's truly unfortunate. Your birds were so beautiful! I've never had bad issues with hawks since a broody OEGB hen scared the crap out of my trouble hawk.
She was so willing to protect her babies, she was literally doing Top Gun maneuvers to get that hawk - and she did. Haha! He hasn't come back for any bantams since, but he has visited - and seriously reconsidered trying to get my birds again.

@Yard Farmer would you know what is BB red considered? I read it was like partridge but not the same. And would you know if bb red has any recessive genes?

I'm not sure, are you asking like, their feather pattern? If so, they're considered crow-wing.

I haven't seen, or read BB reds are similar to partridge. Where did you read that? I'd like to read that if you remember.
I would think red, and the black breast would be recessive, but I'm not sure.
I'm still learning genetics, so that's all new to me.

I think these two post are where I got the partridge from. It’s been awhile sense I did the research.(Back in the spring before my little bb red pullet was killed)

Black breasted red is close to the wild type chicken color~~(~~~partridge).The roos are black~green, red, orange and females have a brownish pattern to body and a salmon breast.

black breasted red (BBR) is duck wing patterned, and wild-type based. Wild type is usually not called partridge in the US; here that is typically reserved for Asiatic partidge based birds.

Hmm, interesting. From what I can see they're 2 different colors, but they're just very similar.
It sounds like the males are basically identical, but the females are where you can tell the difference, because the partridge don't have the salmon breast.
