THEY ARE HATCHING!!! We went to let the chickens out this morning, while saying good morning to our broody a little chick peaked out at us!! When we closed up the coop last night there was no signs of anything happening, the chick was still wet so it must not have hatched to long ago.
I will get pics posted as soon as I can, just don't want to mess with her to much right away.

This is my first time trying things "the natural way". Three of My Salmon Favorelles all went broody at once. My first time with broody hens too! haha
I picked up some eggs and all three are happily sitting on them now. The wait may KILL me, however! :) Glad to have some partners in crime.

Love Salmon Fav's but my one hen has never gone broody yet. Hopefully soon! Have fun with the hatch!!

I wish I'd found this thread 2 months ago! :)

We just hatched out 5 salmon faverolle chicks the natural way. It was just amazing to experience the whole process from mama hen going broody to seeing the chicks hatch and now grow. They are a month old now and wow are they cute. :)

I am completely traumatized! Caught a 'coon in the coop late yesterday afternoon.

Thankfully, Broody Naima and the kids were safely locked away and I had just collected eggs an hour or so earlier. I can only hope he won't return right away because he didn't get a meal (assuming it wasn't just their feeder he was after. It was sure swinging by the time I got out there so that might have been what he/she was going after.) He certainly freaked out the free-rangers that live in that coop. There was complete chaos in the yard which is what got my attention. But Naima's kids are a week old today and REALLY ready to be outside (in the coop, anyway) during the day. They wouldn't stand a chance against a raccoon. But I just can't bring myself to do it. At this point, I only let them out when I can be around to supervise then lock them all up again.
