Also if you have it or can get it - I would mix in some diatomaceous earth - it MUST be kept dry to work, but it has worked wonders on my birds (and other animals) and it's also good for their internal health if they eat it (you can mix a little with their food). I just put it in the coop and the chickens do the rest. It's very safe - I use it in the nest of my broody hens too. For a dust bath equal parts of sand, wood ash, and diatomaceous earth works great.

Meet Muffin - (cochin bantam) - I discovered her late Monday evening all puffy on the nest. The next day she was still there and growling at me - Wednesday I decided to move her and give her some eggs. This is her first time (she has only been laying for a month) so I only gave her 6 eggs - one of her own and 5 standard sized eggs. She is doing great so far! Hatch Day JUNE 5th.

Way to go.....my 2 columbian crosses went broody on me after only a month laying and they did a great job!! They are on the second round now.....Our 6 Orphingtons hatched in February!! Cant wait to hear how she does.!! Will post pics of my two soon.

Thank you wood ash went into the coop today :) fingers crossed

If you have access to some wood ashes I would mix up a tub of half sand, half wood ash and put it in with mamma and babies to be a dust bath area. It can be loose on the floor in a corner if you don't have a tub for it.
Wood ashes are a favorite of our birds for dusting, and I believe helps with the parasite problem.  If you search for 'mite treatments for chicks' in the medical section you should find a number of threads on it.

My hens went broody on the 30 th of April and the 28th... What days can i be expecting?

It's 21 days if they're hatching chicken eggs. So start anticipating them on May 18th. Be patient. If nothing hatches by 25 days after they started sitting, then candle the eggs to see if they are still growing. Post pics once the fuzzy butts arrive!
