Well, my broody was on the move again yesterday. She must have got off the nest to do her business, then went back to the coop and stole somebody elses eggs that were laid that day! I found her sitting on 3 eggs, one nest over. The two that I had her sitting on weren't warm at all!

I took the 3 she stole and put her own eggs in their place. (luckily the other 3 eggs were in the bator, I haven't trusted her with my good ones since she moved the last time on me.) She's been sitting on one that candled clear and another that is about 9 days along that is developing. I don't know how long she was off of the one, but I hope it didn't hurt it.

Chicken Chat--My eggs got cool at least once, and we were 4 for 4. (After she rejected one and 2 got broken/eaten early on)

I've followed this thread for a while and thought I'd chime in. I have a very sweet little (runty) BO hen that's been broody since very early summer. Couldn't break her no matter what I tried. Took the eggs as soon as they were laid, moved her off the nest multiple times per day, locked her out of the coop for hours at a time.... didn't matter, as soon as she had the chance she was back on the nest. I'd already hatched all the chicks I wanted earlier in the spring and really, really didn't want more chicks this year. She's gotten so thin and pale that I truly thought she was gonna brood herself to death. Well, recently a friend who has multiple broodies hard at work right now convinced me to take a handful of eggs back to give her. Says I can bring them back after the hatch if I don't want to keep them. Sigh. After all this time, she won. Chicklet is one happy mama. And I just watch them and scratch my head.

Look what a happy mama, congrats on the hatch, but you forgot to say if your giving the chicks to your friend or keeping them?
