That was funny Niss, I am no patron saint. lol but very sweet pics. do your silkies live with the rest of your flock? I would love a few but have not because I am concerned of the vaulted skull thing and pecking.

Yes, they are right in with everyone else! I had them all together before I knew any better, but at that piont thought, "well, they've made it this far!" The partage sleeps on a lower shelf with several hens and the white fluffball sneeks in with any family nesting on the ground--I'm hoping it was an intership for a job next year as broody mama! Niether one has crowed or layed an egg...but I'm thinking they are girls. The white on was growing a new poof last week and looked so funny with quills sticking every which way!

Niss!! Thanks for awesome pics, I think your good vibes r working!! Went out this mornin around 9 and there was a hole on egg #3, I took a pic, but can NOT figure out how to upload. Cancelled our trip to Franklin Institute so we could be close to home and just checked again (12). Same hole, but egg cheeped!! OMG!! I am beside myself!!

Miss BA is still sitting on the eggs I gave her on Saturday evening; she has stopped playing musical next boxes. Today I pulled her off to go eat and check the eggs--2 more have been added!! THe original eggs were marked with an X.

Any suggestions what to do about the extra eggs? Remove? Leave for now? I plan to take the chicks and put in a brooder as the temps at night are very cold and I'm not set up for a broody.

So STILL no babies.... Arrrrgh! The good news is that while checking tonight, egg #4 was pipping, not quite a peep, very faint. Still no sounds outta eggs 1 and 2, but they do not smell foul either. How long in between first pip n chick? It was hard to tuck them in tonight.
