Old fashioned Broody thread for ducks 2013 edition

That is going to be awesome. great idea.. Oh I know my first coop I have to crawl inside to do anything so I use it for my bantam hens when they are brooding. All my other house have full size doors so I can walk in and do what ever I need to do, The goose house I want to be 6' high so I can walk into it and clean. have you ever bought anything from habitat for Humanity thrift stores? I am going to check on getting the doors there and we have bought windows for our duck/chickens and goose houses there. We had some windows given to us from a construction site our son is working on a redo, nice big windows we're going to use them in the goose house. I love recycled stuff. like your book case.

The white part is a huge door that I can get in & out of. But I hate opening it, I only open it for clean outs. Now the duck coop is a pain to get into, thats why DH made the door 2 foot high by 3 foot wide. Its a big pop door but still a pain in the butt to crawl into. But the door is big enough to make clean outs easy. As soon as she's done with this clutch I will be removing the crate. Boy I will never do that again what a pain lol...(I dont want to move the clutch again - esp........now that's shes sitting)

Yeah I have been to the habitat re-store I didnt buy anything though. We have enough stuff sitting in this yard to make a whole other coop

I've decided to let my call duck set! She hasn't been consistently setting on her eggs yes, but.....hopefully soon!!! :D She is a black bibbed, my drake is a white and I wanted some pure white babies so I put some of the other ducks eggs under there too. So hopefully bibbed & white, white & white call ducklings!!! SO EXCITED! :)

Well, I don't have any pics of her setting right now....but I have pics of what the parents are! :)
This is the bibbed, the one who is (hopefully) going to hatch them. Her name is Fiona. :)

I did another count this morning. My broody scovy hen is on 15 eggs. The other hen slowing into broodiness, she has started to disappear at night under the shed. I have NO clue how many she has under there. My third scovy hen hasn't even given it a thought. I'm wondering if its cause she's at the bottom, or doesn't like all the areas set up for nests.... Has anyone noticed that to be the case? The girls on the bottom just don't brood up?

a repeat Sumatra hatching egg customer came by today to get 1/2 dozen eggs for a broody. She casually mentions she has 3 broody's and will hatch eggs for me if I wish

. She left with 1/2 dz free Sumatra eggs for a broody and 4 Runner eggs for a broody to hatch for me.
