Ahhh well if that is the case, that may have been a hatched egg and mama is hunkered down over babies.

Them girls wouldn't eve have to sit on eggs to hatch them in those temps. I believe I'd have to peek under, the suspense would get the best of me.So, Fort Knox is in place. Nothing is getting in there now! And still this morning, girls sitting and no babies. At least nothing that they will let me see. I see no shells.....but they are verrrry protective.
I have no instincts yet. This is a first for me and for them. I just thought maybe one had moved off and that's how the egg was vulnerable...but I watched nearly all night and no, they don't get off the clutch. I think it was birds....getting a free meal like was said.
Still praying. We are on day 31. And temps today rise to 100.
Another egg shell outside again this morning. Looks like it was a yolk. Girls still sitting....and sometimes when they move around I can still see whole eggs. Day 32 by my count. No sign of babies.....Lord have mercy.....
Daisy is now sitting on 14. I candled her last night and 14 are wiggly veiny little embryos....and 3 were unfertilized. Pulled them....I know better now. I will allow the miracle to continue to happen for her.
As far as the first 2 on day 32....I just pray they are blessed with at least one baby. They have been such good mommas...

Yep they may be Dayton, I'm sorry if this is the case. If your friend finds it to be true then I'd not only take the eggs but get rid of all traces of nest too. Those girls need to get on with their lives.Still no babies.
Thinking they are all probably dead. Having a friend who is very experienced with hatches and such come over tonight and take a look. I think they are all dead. Mommas are still so overprotective....but I have to keep in mind this is their first clutch.....they may sit until they all rot.![]()
