Well Ruthie ended up with 1 duckling hatched Wed. I'm thinking some of my ducks have low fertility since they are 9yrs and going on 8yrs. so will see when next hatch around June 7th all but 1 from my youngest girls.

Adorable pics! um, that is a goose right? the big white one lolSo lil duckling came out with Mama a little while ago and Papa goose was standing by and granma Lydia was having a nervous breakdown Baby didn't know who mama was with so many feet to look at started following the chickens with the 3 of us hot on its tail; I finally managed to get them back together and inside till threat of Blk snake is over for the day. Whew I don't know.![]()

I am so amazed at the difference between my duck mama and chicken mamas. the ducks don't seem that worried as the chicken mamas will kick some butt if anyone gets close to her chicks. Our first ducklings are 4 weeks now I sold 2 so just have the one but it mostly hangs out by itself. It goes in at night with mama but she pretty much ignores it during the daytime. Actually Papa goose hangs with it the most. They have to know the ropes pretty much by week 2 i'd say.. We have some more hatching in June. Hope you get a good hatch with Lilly.Nothing really to update here... 'junior' is now 2wks old doing well, Lilly isn't due till the end of the month so there won't be any new additions for a little while. She still has 6 eggs so should be interesting to see if that is what we get.
I had a little trouble this morning as Mama Dusty had left the freakin' nesting area! She was safe she was on the shelf in the barn, poor baby though it was trapped in the pen and trying to find mama... I have all the drakes stalled now but i am not sure if i can leave the baby loose with the 3 other hens? two are nesting the other is just a hen lol
but if she's gonna start bailing, we have a problem here Houston!![]()
