my broody Runner did the same at 1st. She hatched 6 of 8 eggs. I noticed ducks get off the nest a lot more often than chickens do.Is it normal for a broody duck to leave the nest for 3 or so hours? Mine just went broody yesterday, and she was away from the nest from 5:00-about 8:30. Should I treat her any different than usual? She is a KC, so I didn't expect her to go broody. Food 24/7 is not an option, she chose to nest in the goat pen and the goats cannot have duck foodI gave her grain outside the fence, we have a gate she can get through, so I could have grain out there all the time. I also put a duck accessible water bucket near her.
