Old favorite hen acting odd and smells terrible!

Have you tried the dawn? Maggots can kill within 24 hours. Don’t risk it.
Yes I did the dawn and washed he let her soak in it. Poor chicken has soooo many. I couldn't believe it! Did your chicken have a lot too?

Thankfully not, her maggot sized wound was about the size of a quarter. Once I noticed it I researched and used the dawn and that was it for the maggots.

Could you take a picture of the maggots? And what her vent and underneath her vent looks like?

Does she still have maggots even after the dawn? If so you might want to redo it. You could also manually pick out the maggots with tweezers but I would think if you rub the dawn into them that that would kill them.

The longer they are on her, the deeper they will be going into her and it will start to become life threatening. I’m saying this because maggots are no fun and I don’t want you losing her.

That’s a very big hole if I see it correctly. Also three maggots or a little more?

Continue with the dawn and get those maggots off before night. I would also recommend bringing her inside. When she is this weak and has a open hole, flies will be eager to lay more eggs on her and restart the maggot process.

Once she is inside you won’t need to worry about more flies laying eggs and can focus on the maggots. Keep it up with the dawn and getting those off, if they are on her overnight they will do a lot of damage.

Once the maggots are gone, you need to treat that wound. I would recommend saline solution, povidone iodine or betadine and plain neosporin... not pain relief.

That’s only when the maggots are completely off.

That was after he second bath. I think she had 5 or 6 baths total. I got her inside in a crate she's acting very cold. Extremely exhausted too. I think they are off. I honestly don't know how this all got passed me, im very disappointed for not checking. It was like out of nowhere. Bam she's sick just like that. I hope she's feeling better in the morning im so worried. I feel horrible for her. I've never dealt with fly strike before.
