Old fogies with new hobby

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Sounds like the shells are thin. Always offer oyster shell in a separate tub or bowl on the side. Keep it near the food or water. Oyster shell is a perfect source of calcium to help form hard shells. Thin shelled eggs are harder to pass as well, could lead to egg binding.
Ok thanks

This may just have to remain a mystery. Is it possible that some just lay naturally thicker shells?
Welcome to Backyard Chickens. Pull up roost stay awhile.
Some have a tougher shell add extra as long as none thin do not worry.
That's kind of what I was thinking. Thanks
