Help, I just made these this afternoon and they were so gross. I know that I did something wrong, because they didn't look at all like the pictures and people here have given them such good reviews that I just know i was my fault. Mine just tasted like flour and water. They were very flat and heavy. Any ideas? I want to try them again and try to get it right.
They look wonderful!! Kris you maybe should give the recipe a 2nd try, I did the same thing with gumpgirls bread-it was terrible for me but everyone gave rave reviews. Soo try again!
Did you remember all the ingredients? And melt the butter in the pan you are going to bake them in, dip the strips in the butter then lay in the same pan, there will be some butter in the pan still too.
Try them again, sounds like maybe you left something out.

Kristie...
how old is your backing powder? it only has a shelf life of 6 months. that would make them very flat. do not over mix or knead the dough too much. that would also be an issue.
they are much more dense than a raised biscuit and they are crunchy.
give them another whirl! i bet you get a great result the next go round!
