old trampoline frame

Oh my god. This is one of the funniest things I've seen in a while. I didn't think it was possible until I saw the pic.

Neat ideas though. Very creative.

Here's a pic of my trampoline coop and a thread I wrote once because it wasn't as *easy* as I thought it would be...

It was simple to attach chicken wire around the outside. I used heavy plastic ties, but the "door" never worked well, and having to move it was difficult because the legs would fall off. It still works as a trampoline though! (By the way, I kept one family of turkeys in the trampoline coop and let the other turkeys out periodically for grazing -- that's why there's a turkey sitting on top! He didn't escape, but he liked to perch there and chat with the other turkeys).

I have a trampoline-frame coop. The problem is that I'm more clever about coop construction than about posting pictures online. You'll have to be content for now with my description.

It's a round frame with the trampoline still intact. It was retired because some of the elastic bands were fraying. I punched grommets in those places and laced the tramp to the frame with strong rope. Then I threaded strips of plastic fencing through the bands all around the edges to cover the gaps between the bands. That part isn't racoon-proof, but good enough to keep the birds in.

I used 2 X 2" welded wire all around the sides of the frame, and attatched it with good zip-ties. I also zip-tied plastic landscape edging all around the bottom edge of the wire & frame.

I made a square door, about 20" square I think. A wood frame of 1 X 3"s hinged to an outer frame, covered with the same 2 X 2" wire. Then I cut out a hole to fit the frame and attatched it with mending plates to the wire.

I hung roosts inside, long straight branches hung from their ends by ropes to the sides. And put a 2/5" diameter length of PVC across one end near the door, from which to hang the feeder. To keep some of the weather out I stretched a tarp across part of one side, near the roosts, and laid a piece of corregated plastic roofing across the top. This is zip-tied along the edges to keep the wind from blowing it off.

This coop has been working well for us, it serves as a grow-out pen for the dinner guests.

If you ever get a chance to post pics, I'd love to see it.

A question... do you ever have predators who dig in under the sides? Is there anything to prevent that?

Thank you, learning to post pictures is one of my next projects.

The frame I described wouldn't prevent predators from digging under. Most tractors cannot prevent that, unless you make an apron of wire and/or blocks around it. If you made your trampoline pen permanent then you could bury the wire under & around it.

It might be a bit tricky but I kind of imagine a gazebo type roof on top of it. A traditionally wood framed roof may be too heavy but it would look neat.
